  • I think this describes a lot of critical infrastructure. It’s the “profit” mindedness of governments and corporations to choose to consolidate infrastructure in places that might be risky but cost less. It’s like removing tornado warning systems because they cost a lot to maintain, staff, and operate. So a few people being killed and property being destroyed is “worth it” because it’s cheaper in the long run. So running cables in vulnerable areas is “worth it” because it was cost effective to do so and accept the minor risk assessment that political instability might someday affect them. Same with global energy. It was cost effective and profitable to run so many ships through Hormuz and put a substantial amount of refining capacity in a potentially unstable area. Now we pay the price thanks to an idiot president.

  • Limited time and very limited access to content, only content that is age appropriate.

Use the device’s parental controls to limit apps, downloading, purchases, sites, hours available and total time allowed. Doesn’t matter if it’s a phone, tablet, or PC. LAN parental controls if available as a secondary layer of site blocking and overall internet blocking at internet curfew time.

Been doing this for years. It’s a must. Parents are responsible for limits on mobile devices and content. Having the software do the limits is far, far easier than physically demanding the phone from the kid, shutting it off, or looking over their shoulder to see what they’re using it for.

  • He wants to know how much he can steal, or/and use to gild everything he’s going to remodel at mar a lago and the White House.

  • It’s called idolization. Excessive worship. One way to do that is to make a statue of someone not because of any great service, but because they’re idolized.

  • The real “problems” will be in contested purple areas. No need to bother in secure blue state areas. They only need to exert as much effort as needed to maintain control.

But who knows. Maybe a little extra brutality in blue states just for funsies is probably on their radar.

  • The trump bible is like all the folders full of “plans” he presented to the press. Official looking covers with nothing but empty pages between them.

  • The power games are for the people at the top, the ones with money. For the rest of the sheep its [religion, racism, nationalism, patriotism, whatever bogeymen that can be made up]. Just like in the US today. There’s no shortage of complete fundy nutcases wishfully cheering trump’s war in the Middle East as a path to Armageddon when in reality it’s nothing more than trump desperately trying to control the petro energy market as a power and money grab. Except he's an idiot.

  • X1C. The new version looks even better. Pretty happy with the XIC’s performance, though. Way better than my old Lulzbot.

  • I don’t even know if that’s a thought. This country has little hope of a third party without radical changes to how we vote.

But keeping loud progressives in the party where they can be seen and heard is good to keep progressive voters engaged. Note that Bernie, AOC, and the more outspoken libs are given more airtime come election years whereas they only get minor sporadic coverage the rest of the time. So the Dems attract the progressives by amplifying convenient voices when it suits them, but otherwise progressive policy is essentially nullified by neo-lib willful failure to block shitty conservative policy.

  • Weather, my hobby groups some of which I admin, email, looking up various parts and how-to’s for a car I’m working on, messaging, and occasional housecleaning of the phone itself - getting rid of unnecessary photos, email, SMS and all that.

  • All your power and water are belong to us

  • Climate change.

    Literally.

  • My favorite tech buy is a good 3D printer.

The ability to imagine something, model it in 3D, and then send it to a box and have it “magically” become real via 3D printing will never not amaze me or stop being cool.

Plenty of other useful tech toys like a jellyfin PC or a 3D scanner, but the printer is the thing I enjoy the most.

  • Can’t prove a negative.

They think they stopped school shootings based on criteria they made up. Unless someone was physically on the way to a school, armed, they didn’t stop anything.

    Wannabe Minority Report.

  • Well their work sure as fuck isn’t based on objectivity.

  • Don’t let facts get in the way of a good fascist takeover.

  • All the presidents back to the 1920s, combined, up to this term for trump, made $400 million while in office.

All of them. Added up to $400 million.

Trump had made over a billion dollars in his first year.

    Best grift ever.

  • The colonists fleeing Europe to the American colonies for the apocryphal “freedom of religion” weren’t fleeing to make a place that everyone could practice religion freely, it was so they could practice their religion freely.

So she’s pretty much echoing that early attitude that her version of religion is the only right version. Same as the taliban and all the rest of the theofascists out there.
