I can be controversial or annoying because I always require proof and facts for whatever people are saying/claiming. This has gotten me into a lot of heated debates, even got myself banned from "YouShouldKnow" for saying I need more proof of Israeli's genocide (that was long ago, got more proof and changed my mind). If I do not agree on some subjectively obvious topic, please do not assume I'm being unfriendly, evil or a troll. I do try my best to approach any subject with neutral and open mind. Just call me autistic with OCD

  • Lol no. USSR by definition was not communist, only by it's name. Look up what communism actually is. It has no central government for starters. This is why it's hard for me to even refer to USSR as communists, they were a socialist state.

The S in USSR is "Socialist". You could say that Communism is the end goal (stateless, classless), and socialism is the transitional stage, but USSR never reached communism, they only had a party that called themselves communist party of socialist state

  • Well, I did say socialist state, not social policies. I think (assume) the differences are pretty clear. EU have good social policies as an example, but definitely are not socialist states. Extremity versus balance.

  • Huh? I was born in USSR, it was a socialist state. Had it's perks like free housing (can't choose), but it was all around unbearable and miserable

Gulag was used for dissidents and whoever conspired against the (socialist) state. What you're saying feels like American moment

EDIT: If you think you're a slave in capitalism, wait till you realize that in a socialist state, the government TELLS you what will be your job for the rest of the life, you can't choose where to live, you're a cog in a system doomed to work wherever the people above deemed necessary. You're a tool, and as soon as you start crying, you'll get replaced. Socialism dues not imply humanity, it's about distributed work and resources.

  • USSR anthem starts playing

  • Airlines

    Subsidize

Funny. Airlines are famously known for sucking money out from governments for their own good while hiding profits

EDIT: You know what, I don't even know why I said this, this could be indeed something they subsidize for their own good

  • It's the main purpose of them, yes. Define TV to me. I don't see the point of paying for decoders, smart TV and bunch of other things I'll never use, much smarter decision is to buy a monitor which focuses on image quality and performance, far more suitable for consoles, Roku, etc.

Commenter above low-key described that OLED as a monitor more than a TV

  • Well, the top killer is Boost, which is a client for Lemmy, sitting at 1/3 battery usage.

  • TV

    2026

Honestly, don't remember the last time I watched TV

  • There is something to be said about continuous community effort. Projects tend to continue even with original developers absent, sometimes for a very long time.

One of my favourite games is STALKER, and boy does it hold a story and history behind the community. The eurojank game that was modded into an AAA looking survival game that was even published to GOG (STALKER GAMMA). Such project could've probably costed millions for a studio. Coincidentally, watched this video today, which briefly tells the history too: https://youtu.be/5C80TWlTC1o

  • I still miss my smart launcher 3. It was just so smooth, tidy and easy to navigate, but unfortunately pretty much every 3rd party launcher breaks on foldables

  • North Korea has connection to Russia, where they then connect to rest of the world. Otherwise they could not constantly hack everyone and steal cryptos

  • Random, but mine started randomly turning itself back on. This is honestly bizzare and dangerous. Why the fuck does my PC suddenly turns itself on while I'm sleeping? Using event viewer and commands to see what triggered it returns nothingness, as if nothing triggered it

  • Mr. Robot: Hold my editor

  • RED ALERT!

I have some news for you

  • Firefox is not playing around

  • I've always felt sus about using canisters instead of compressor/fan. They use gas which instantly freezes the surface, which introduces some serious material stress in the long term. Also, with cold surfaces but warm air comes condensation

  • The word "indeed" has confused me. English is my third language, I know it essentially translates to "I agree/yes", but to me it sounds like someone is in need of help or action (in-deed)
