Yeah I always felt best (highest libido, good appetite, slightly manic but in a pleasant way, just lots of energy) in the days right before my period, and the actual period was a big comedown and usually accompanied by a migraine.
The two nadirs in my cycle were ovulation and menstruation, both are sharp drops in estrogen so that makes sense. Progesterone runs up before the period and that I think is what made me feel good.
My work computer runs better because I listen to music and browse the Internet not just work work work. I keep it entertained, and in return it runs better than those of my fellow employees, I have far fewer problems.
ETA reading below, I do restart each day. Maybe that is all that is happening to keep it happy. How disappointing. Do people really not do that? On their WORK machines?
I like this answer. My kid didn't have distress, really, and I'm glad. It made it oddly problematic because that's part of how they determine a kid is Legitimately Trans* here. I am A -OK with him being whoever he is, but yes I did love him as a little girl.
I love getting lost sometimes. It's about impossible for me here, because I have lived in the same place so long. But just wandering can be so cool. I had a friend who could ALWAYS face north, we were doing "pin the tail on the donkey" so blindfolded her, spun her around and around and said go, she unerringly heads right for the correct wall. So we played with making her disoriented and saying which way is north, she cannot lose it, is anchored even blind & dizzy.
Not much. I am a middle aged white woman, do not ask for the manager or call the police. I fucking love spicy food and all kinds of music, hang out with all sorts of people. My mom used to say my taste in books and movies was that of a teenage boy. Drive a manual 6 speed car when I have to drive. Still tech support for some of my kids and definitely for my husband.
In stereotypical fashion though, I do love a fruity cocktail, use my e-reader to read smut sometimes, and am very good in the kitchen. I do yoga. Love cats!
I'm making pineapple ice cream. Heat the evaporated milk with regular milk, cream and sugar then freeze it, blend with the pineapple and a splash of buttermilk and some rum, freeze again. Rum acts as antifreeze so it stays soft.
Hi! My youngest is a trans guy, so at this point I am an older parent (mid 50s). They had to literally come out to me because my idea of acceptable womanhood is so wide the fact that they dressed like a 40 year old butch lesbian in high school did not make me think anything, nor the binder, both the youngest 2 do that and both prefer girls, so I just figured both were gay. It is funny he just figured I'd be happy, since I only spawned girls, to have one be a boy. You are right that kids are lasseiz-faire about it.
I did have definite anxiety around this, much more than the kids do, they just find it normal to choose. The state took away underage people's choice on hormones so there was enough time for me to feel more settled, and we talked a lot about the medical side. He is lucky in build, I am tall for a lady, with gentle not dramatic curves, a more androgynous build and he got that (my tallest kid! Only one taller than me!) so could pass before doing any hormones, it was less urgent than it might have been if he read more girly in body type.
Now he is 19, which puts it even more firmly in the territory of not my business.
You are most welcome to message me if you want to.
I am not as old as Brad Pitt but getting there, and while my "window" has widened as I get older it's not so wide. Married now but if we were still doing the recreational sex I would say about 10-12 years in either direction for casual (as long as there is mutual attraction) but for serious dating my husband is almost 3 years older than me and that's about as wide a gap as I would be comfortable with, my preference is same age. My kids say I seem much younger than him already, lol, but I don't think that is years.
YouTube music is still pretty good for me, the canned playlists sometimes turn up good bands I've not heard of, and recommendations about as good as they ever were, not great but good.
But there is a community radio station here with a variety of shows, a couple are 'alternative' and those DJs have good taste and stay on top of new stuff.
Also opening bands at shows, and sometimes at yoga class, oddly.
Sure, yes. And even more often impressed with the work we got done 'under the table' so to speak - jobs we asked for done by people who did work on the side, we have an electrician who works commercial jobs but does side gigs, he put hurricane proof lights and fans on our back porch, it turned out exactly as I wanted and did survive a hurricane. We have a plumber friend who does side work on weekends.
Also the permitted and legally sanctioned work has been good. Happy with the guys who did the roof, and with our windows, happy with the work we got done when we moved in (moving walls and plumbing around).
I love to negotiate, in general, but absolutely do not when contracting for house renovations. I pay what they ask for. Might ask if there is a more affordable solution or do some of the work to help some if time permits, and do get multiple quotes on some of it, but with a couple of exceptions we have been so happy with the work done to our house. I have a clear vision and am able to communicate it, and I guess it has all been possible to do.
I was quite surprised, when buying seeds for my garden (I need heat tolerant varieties of everything) that some of the ones that were heat tolerant were also cold tolerant, either old varieties or sturdy hybrids.
Green Magic Broccoli is awesome, and there are lettuces like that. And while our unusual double tap freeze this year wiped out most of my garden, the fennel, which is heat tolerant in my experience, just did not freeze. All those little hairy leaves were completely undamaged. I did not expect that!
3rd-ing the suggestion for an e-reader. On those you can change and enlarge the font, and the screen is much more comfortable to look at (even more comfortable than paper IMO). And remember you are reading for entertainment and pleasure. Stop reading when it stops feeling good! Go do something else.
I just made what I wanted and let them eat or not - little kids don't really need much food, not as much as adults think. Something like 3TBSP 3 times a day! And if they are not eating enough, and wanting junky stuff I made nothing sweet for a week or two to reset their palate.
And offered a lot of different flavors early, to help develop a palate. Olives, fruits & veg, spices, textures, variety.
But none of mine were really picky. Just sometimes stubborn to exercise their will, or because they thought to hold out for dessert foods. I can go months without sweets, child. You will get hungry long before I want anything sweet.
ETA - fake choices can sometimes work too. "Do you want carrot for your vegetable, or broccoli?" And when older I would sometimes ask them to make supper and we would buy whatever ingredients so they could make what they wanted, and the rest of us would eat whatever they made. Often, macaroni and cheese but sometimes they surprised me with lentil salad or something else healthy. But I was eating disordered as a young woman (restrictive - obsessed with calories) and I don't want them to be like that, it's not actually good to be that obsessive about perfect diet.
