It is an ideology in which this motley crew shares a fundamental premise: this world can no longer be saved, and only a certain type of human may and can survive the downfall of our world.

In climate disasters, wars, pandemics, and the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the end-times fascist sees not only threats, but precisely also welcome, sacred signs confirming their conviction that the apocalypse is approaching, and of the urgency to gather their in-group. And where most people want to prevent the Doomsday Clock from actually striking twelve, the end-times fascist would rather press the accelerator, while quickly loading their select in-group into the trunk before setting course for bunker safety, divine salvation, or Mars. After all: someone convinced that the world is doomed anyway has little reason to protect it, and mostly just wants to get out.

'To even describe this worldview makes you sound a little bit insane,' Astra Taylor tells us. And indeed: her story sounds like a bad conspiracy theory, but it is not. It is an uncomfortable truth in which the main players often possess billions of dollars, power, and access to the technology of tomorrow. The fact that the most powerful and wealthy people on Earth adhere to this ideology doesn't exactly help. Certainly not when they no longer try to prevent disasters, but concern themselves solely with the question of who is allowed to survive... Fortunately, there is still, somewhat, hope. Just listen to Astra.

About Astra Taylor The Canadian-American writer is known for her socially critical books. In her work, Taylor refers to hopeful alternatives and advocates a different approach to our planet. In addition, Taylor writes for The New Yorker and The New York Times, and received an American Book Award. Besides her literary work, Taylor has also made several documentaries and is one of the founders of the organization Debt Collective.

Even if the Trump administration says it won’t meddle in the operation of these companies, the genie is out of the bottle and the government will now have an incentive, according to DeHaven, “to privilege the companies that the government has ownership stakes in, and to disfavor competitors, and not just existing competitors, but potential competitors.”

In the Fox News poll, Americans are effectively split — 50% viewed capitalism favorably versus 46% who viewed it unfavorably.

He keys in on one particular data point: Only 41% of Republican registered voters have a strongly favorable view of capitalism in the most recent Fox News poll. Another 20% of Republicans registered voters expressed a somewhat favorable view of capitalism.

The ship has not docked for more than 200 days. According to Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, that is a record in recent history for the number of consecutive days at sea.

In recent weeks, family members of the crew have told U.S. media about exhaustion on board, food shortages, and poor sanitary conditions. Earlier this month, a sailor reportedly even jumped overboard. CNN (opens in a new window) reports, citing anonymous sources within the U.S. government, that the crew member was subsequently rescued from the water.

The news outlet also reports that the U.S. Navy is dismissing the incident as a “mental health-related episode.” The crew member has been brought ashore for further care. Other crew members are also said to have attempted to jump overboard.

There were already complaints about the food last April. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth dismissed the photos that surfaced as fake news.

Last week, during a meeting with Navy leadership, family members asked questions about the sailor who had jumped overboard. They were told that he was doing "just fine," according to a reporter from the news channel MS Now. "Those present reacted with outrage."

Yeah why does USA not want international law? The U.S. has never ratified the ICC because why would they give up the freedom to do what they want… USA does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC. The 2002 American Service-Members’ Protection Act (ASPA) literally states that the U.S. will attempt to protect U.S. military personnel and other citizens from ICC persecution, even with military action if necessary. That bill was nicknamed “The Hague Invasion Act” because in theory it authorizes the president to use force to free Americans from ICC prison. They even go as far as using big tech to blackmail members of the ICC that investigate war crimes of the US military (or Israel). crazy.

Neither USA nor Israel is among the 125 signatories of the Rome Statute, which established the ICC in 1998. However, the treaty sets out that nationals of non-member states can be tried for crimes that take place on the territory of states that are signatories. But if mamdami arrests netanyahu and delivers him to The Hague that would be a dream for everyone who wants global peace and justice, probably followed by sanctions from crybaby trump tho lmao

Trump is openly framing disaster aid as a political favor tied to his endorsed candidates. he's holding disaster aid hostage untill the state does what trump wants so he can make the senator look like the hero... Instead of creating a system where everyone gets equal protection, he's saying if you don't vote for me, you get less protection... This also creates a dangerous new quid pro quo for how states or voters act, supporting his candidates means they'll get the help they need and suffer less, opposing them means they'll have to pay the price... They also mislead voters saying that candidates (like Tiffany or Rogers) directly secured the aid, because in reality, the decision rests with the federal government, Trump himself...

"We should be expecting an all-of-government approach in the coming weeks and months. [...] What we can expect in the coming weeks is a federal government that is focused exclusively on helping Republicans win elections. Period, full stop."

So federal agencies (FEMA, ICE, HHS, etc.) will be put to work to influence elections. So we can expect more aid approved to swing states with competitive races (Michigan, Wisconsin) while denying and withholding it to blue states. They will try potential deployment to manufacture crises (immigration "surges") to rally Republican voters, and strategically deploying health resources and programs, announcing new funding, grants and initiatives to boost the image of republican GOP candidates in swing districts (RFK Jr. campaigning in those same key districts). Even if the programs were already planned or not uniquely tied to Republican efforts, it’s about manufacturing the image of the GOP as the party that "delivers".They literally use all government resources to punish democratic states, and reward republican states. Sounds authoritarian. I thought power was a tool to make lives better for everyone, instead of power being the endgoal and making sure none can challenge him lol

Protesting ICE gets you sentenced 30-100 years in prison … meanwhile people have the right to ask asylum, and the right on a just procedure, thats a human right for all of us… So ICE is against human rights and it’s also against European law … Thats crazy bro, america has become ruzzia and china 2.0
