  • FTA:

Anthropic warned against “[t]he prospect of ruinous statutory damages—$150,000 times 5 million books”: that would mean $750 billion.

So part of their argument is actually that they stole so much that it would be impossible for them/anyone to pay restitution, therefore we should just let them off the hook.

  • My work recently gave me an iPhone - first one I've ever owned - and the lack of a 3.5mm jack just fucking sucks. It makes everything so much less convenient. Bluetooth is so much slower to get going than a simple plug-in pair of cans (or even buds), and then that's another thing with a battery that I have to rely on.

Such a garbage decision. Now I understand what fashion truly is, I guess.

  • This is... exactly what most sites do with their consent banners.

  • We're racing towards the Blackwall from Cyberpunk 2077...

  • "Dad, law school just isn't resonating with me. I think I'm going to major in hotel management instead."

  • And you don't even have to actually build the thing you drew! That's someone else's problem.

  • It was only $40??Geez, just refund those folks at a minimum. They're going to lose way more off the negative PR.

  • Honestly a very neat story! What an amazingly human experience.

  • Holy shit I can't believe that kind of consumer protection still exists in the US

  • Nothing. As is, LinkedIn doesn't provide anything that most people actually need, so you're safe to ditch it.

  • The country literally voted for insanity and derangement rather than the status quo. Like, I don't even know what to do.

  • Who is going to actually pay for all this AI junk once all the investors decide it's time to stop "disrupting the market and gaining share" and time to start charging people what it actually costs to run (plus margins)?

Like, I use ChatGPT and Copilot and shit because it's free, but if it were $5/month I'd happily walk away.

  • Also, "if I don't make this thing that will kill a hundred people specifically, they'll just use something that kills more people with less precision / more casualties."

  • Welcome to your first time playing Dark Souls

  • Yes, this is what tariffs do.

  • Inflation adjusted it's apparently (less than) $30, because that's one of 13 games in the Cowabunga Collection.

  • Yeah, I moved from an old laptop to this. I love the low profile feel in general, and these Cherry switches take that up to 11. They are very smooth and still make a sound, but they aren't super loud. Then the RGB lighting shines through the numbers/letters themselves, which looks very nice.

This is my first "good" keyboard, so I'm still working on what to use the G keys for. :)

  • Your work won't furnish a good one? Or offer some nominal "personal tech" budget for things like that?
