  • The alternative is the Dems adopting a legitimate progressive platform. Liberals will stand on their heads before they support a progressive candidate. Case-in-point Zohran Mamdani.

    There’s a clear path for gaining the support of the the greater American public. They kneecapped Bernie in 2016 and they’ll do it again and again until we make it clear we won’t budge. If Newsome runs for president we are virtually guaranteed a Vance presidency in 2028. Mark my words.

  • They almost encounter each other. He’s hiding in the hotel room after Llewelyn is killed near the end of the movie. Anton is literally shivering with fear on the other side of the door. Somehow he disappears before the sheriff enters the room.

  • No Country is a film (novel) about how personal gain has supplanted spiritual morality as the driving force behind our greater human culture.

    Josh Brolin embarks on this whole crusade just to secure his bag of money. Woody Harrelson is a self-described “day trader” while he moonlights as a hitman. Javier Bardem kills them both, but he’s terrified of Tommy Lee Jones because he’s just a sheriff who is simply committed to upholding the law as he sees it. As misguided as their respective motivations are (Anton is a psychopath with very black-and-white morals) they are the only two characters who are not driven by material gain. That’s what makes them both so formidable, in the context of the film.

    I’ve rewatched this movie so many times, and this to me is the overarching theme of the story.

  • Any of the Studio Ghibli anime. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are two of my favorites. If you’re not into anime, just trust me and give them a try; the writing and drama is on par with any Grammy-winning blockbuster from the past 50 years.
