  • Did non-RGB mechanical keyboards cease to exist? Can anyone recommend some?

  • There are reasons you may want an app besides rbg: like if your keyboard supports macros, or if you have a hall sensor keyboard and you want to configure the activation and deactivation heights of your key presses.

    But yeah, I kinda think rbg keyboards are lame

  • The thing about learning from educational institutions is that they typically give you a box of tools rather than a specific method for solving specific problems. It's not always obvious at the time why they teach a particular method or a particular way when there are easier or more efficient ways, but often it is because it's prepping you for something later or because it also teaches you something else useful at the same time.

    There is nothing wrong with your strategy, just don't let it interfere with what they're trying to teach you, even if you've skipped "ahead" and found a "better" way.

  • We have this drawer. Full of kitchen utensils that don't fit nicely into other drawers.

    My parents did not have this drawer. Or at least, not nearly to this extent. Idk how they did it with a smaller kitchen than we have.

    I have to sat that the additional of a scale to that drawer is a wild choice

  • I don't imagine I'm especially sensitive to those kinds of things, but I don't expect I'm especially insensitive to them either.

    I personally feel like it's hard to get gamers to honestly self report these things, since being able to notice them is caught up on a lot of macho gamer ego bullshit. Whenever I see semi-rigurous tests, it turns out that people over report how sensitive they are.

    So do I notice those things? Yeah, I think I do, but I'm not confident in my ability to self report it.

    Have I ever experienced things like rubber banding and lag in the last decade? Of course. But rarely can I attribute it to the wireless network rather than server issues, since typically it'll go away when I change servers.

    I will say that, personally, I don't find a lot of value in >120fps unless it's important to read a lot of moving text quickly.

  • Are you connected over 5ghz or 2.4?2.4ghz overlaps with other consumer devices that cause interference, like microwaves, drones, and cordless (landline) phones. If one of those devices turns on nearby, it could cause that until your router hops bands.

    I haven't had this problem with 5ghz (so for over a decade, on my gaming PC).

    I just tested my connection to my ISP on my wireless gaming computer, and I got:2ms ping0ms jitter0% packet lossWith >500mbps downAnd almost those same numbers from my phone in the next room.

    So what do you consider the qualifications for "reliable" connect, if that doesn't meet them?
