  • I recently watched a video by Jason Pargin, about how pretty much all TV shows are Lost-ing it, due to how modern TV production is done. If you don't think they're Lost-ing it, it's simply because the writers are doing a good job making it up as they go.

  • Hmmm

I haven't watched many sitcoms recently. I felt like those pauses for audience laughs were often where they'd cut to other camera angles anyway (likely to distract from how unnaturally long the characters paused in the middle of their conversations)... But I don't have any concrete evidence to back up my feeling.

  • I'd be interested to see an edit of classic sitcoms with laughs (tracks or live), edited to remove both the laugh and the associated pause in the performance.

  • Yes, in the proportion of furries vs weebs.

  • Because look at those cute little footsies

  • The wording had initially confused me.

I thought this was about posts that got no comments, not about necro'ing posts.

Honestly, I think necro'ing posts is really only a problem when your forum software doesn't have many options for sorting the feed. Lemmy is more advanced; if you don't like necro'd posts, then just don't sort by recent activity.

  • We had the opportunity to do something really funny, here

  • He comes out and you miss your shot because you're blinded by a bright light he has with him

  • Hey, that's my job

  • All computing is just shit tons of math operations. That's the "artificial" part of "artificial intelligence", so I'm not really sure what you expect AI to look like.

I'm not a big fan of LLMs and I don't think they're intelligent, but if you're disqualifying them based on using math then nothing is ever going to satisfy you

  • The difference is that tech bros are selling the promise of replacing expensive skilled labour, to business owners, who keep funding it because they'd rather pay one of their own than pay a living wage to a normal person.

So the money keeps coming which let's them keep working on it

  • I've started sitting to pee, when at home

  • I'm skeptical about this.

There are like 170M dudesAnd say each pee is about 300mlThen 1 in 50 dudes needs to have a full pee on the floor every day.

Ok maybe that's a bit more believable

  • That's just the price to get it.

The burn rate of storing it would be similarly astronomical, but reoccurring, cost.

And I can't even imagine the cost of transporting it

  • 24Starring Kiefer Sutherland QED 😌

  • I never really got into reddit.

Getting in on Lemmy (relatively) early made it feel more specifical so I actually do more than search it for answers

  • I'm generally ambivalent at best about the institution of marriage, but my wife (as you might conclude) was decisively pro-marriage.

Really it doesn't change anything, just treat it like an excuse to buy your SO a nice ring and throw a huge party, if that's the kind of thing you're into (and if not, then don't include those things as part of your engagement/wedding).

  • My dream:

In every city and town, local horticulture and landscaping shops would have hearty grass alternatives, a combination of plants selected from the local biome, that could withstand moderate foot traffic and don't require replanting every year.

I've never actually seen any horticulture shops offer such a seed package, granted I haven't really been looking since I don't have a house.

  • You had a thing for that green gorilla fish thing and still got 97% vanilla????
