  • If you use Mbin, or I believe Piefed now too, instead of Lemmy, you can interact with Mastodon freely without having to get a separate account there. I'm subscribed to a lot of Mastodon accounts as a threadiverse user, and I only have this one account.

  • We still have lots of forums running on open source #Discourse software, but we don't have an easy way to connect and engage all those communities back into #Lemmy, #ActivityPub, and the #Fediverse to make them findable with the same ease Reddit provides.

    Might be a stupid question, but have you tried the Discourse Activitypub plugin? Discourse is part of the threadiverse.

  • Why do people in these threads always act like uBlock is the only adblocker out there? It's true that MV3 nerfed adblockers in general, but not nearly as much as what I've heard about uBlock Lite. The one I've always been using hasn't really changed functionally at all from what I can tell.

    Like, I see some people act like Chromium just doesn't have usable adblockers at all anymore. That's just not true.

    It is Mbin that's still alive, yeah. Despite some instances still being named kbin, like the one I'm on, they're actually running Mbin.

    Do you get any benefits from the accounts? You can subscribe to Lemmy communities from Piefed and vice versa. Piefed can now follow Mastodon users iirc. So do you get any benefits from having accounts on both Lemmy and Piefed separately? Are there other benefits to a Friendica account for you than following Mastodon accounts?

    That's the important question really. If they don't have anything to offer to you that the others already provide, then you don't need that account.

    At least spez hasn't gone full nazi yet, or provided tools for generating pedophilia.

    Both of which people seem to be perfectly fine with. So it doesn't surprise me they're fine with Reddit too.

  • Expat is the term used by immigrants who think they're better than the bad immigrants because they come from the good countries. At least that's how it is in my country. Usually they're the worse kind of immigrants because they refuse to integrate.

    I made a Pieface account, but I can't see the comments and posts from my Lemmy account. What's up with that?

    Lemmy and Piefed work a lot like email. Your posts are sent to a list of recipients, and only the receiving servers are aware of them. On Lemmy/Piefed, that list of recipients includes: the community you're posting in, the user you're replying to, any users you mention in the post, and users that follow you. Any server with a user on that list will get your post, any server that isn't featured on that list will not. Communities will then fan out posts they receive to all their subscribers, allowing them to reach a greater audience.

    If you posted to an obscure community, then that explains why your post isn't visible on Piefed. If you registered on a smaller Piefed instance, that could also explain why they might not have received your post. Less users means that, even if the community is large, it's less likely for someone to be subscribed to it.

    It's also possible that the Piefed instance has blocked your Lemmy instance. Or, if you just made your posts, that it's just taking a while for the two servers to communicate.
