I waddled onto the beach and stole found a computer to use.

  • There are people who use and prefer Bing

  • 🙂‍↕️

I looked for a photo of a sea otter with fruit, but all I got was AI slop. So here is one enjoying some crunchy

  • Apparently it is both

In common language and culinary usage, fruit normally means the seed-associated fleshy structures (or produce) of plants that are typically sweet (or sour) and edible in the raw state, such as apples, bananas, grapes, lemons, oranges, and strawberries. In botanical usage, the term fruit includes many structures that are not commonly called as such in everyday language, such as nuts, bean pods, corn kernels, tomatoes, and wheat grains.

These are strange times for Fruit club. Strange times...

  • Not only that, but some road networks have gotten a lot more complex because everyone has a GPS or mapping software now.

I grew up when paper maps were already on the way out, so maybe it's a 'skill issue' for me, but I would have a rough time figuring out lane changes and exits if I had to travel to a new part of greater Vancouver for the first time without GPS. It works fine when everyone is using software to help navigate, and I expect that it would be a mess otherwise.

  • User experience wise, Canvas > Moodle easily

I didn't know Canvas was open source, that's cool

  • I'm really hoping this is a joke website, or it was made for a TV show or something. It was the first result when I looked up "buy organs"

    https://organcity.com/about/

If they are preying on desperate people, then that is just vile and the site should get shut down.

Because none of this makes sense, emphasis mine

ORGAN CITY is a group of US based Cardiologist, pharmacists, surgeons, medical doctors and physicians with more than 30 years of experience in the medical field, is the world’s premier supplier

We are the most reliable suppliers of well preserved and healthy human kidneys online with %100 discreet packaging and fast overnight shipping worldwide.

preserving it at near-body-temperature for up to ten hours

Your order will equally be coming with one of our agents who will travel to secure and safeguard same during transit and it can be delivered any part of the world without any problems. We offer shipping via FedEx, USPS or DHL both road and air transport

We have already extracted human organs in save, healthy and conducive conditions now awaiting orders from the general public. • To the people downvoting, the point is that the headline is misleading. No one is saying that Trump's statements are ok

For example, these previous incidents were not announcements either. It's a BAD thing that he keeps making statements like this, jokes or not, but there's still a difference between announcing a re-election bid and testing the water with "jokes".

Trump jokes about running for a third term in speech to House Republicans

It's not the first time the president has publicly mused about seeking another four years in the White House, which would be barred by the Constitution.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/what-trump-has-said-about-pursuing-a-third-term/

    Dec 2025

The comments came after he told NBC in March that he was "not joking" about seeking another term in office, after repeatedly publicly musing about the possibility. He also said at the time that despite the constitutional limitations, "there are methods which you could do it."

  • I think it comes down to

    • on paper it isn't gambling
    • in practice it has become gambling

ETFs are generally better, especially if you don't touch them for a long time.

  • Where do you usually go for the used ones?

  • I'll edit that comment for clarity

We host a few of the frontends on our own infrastructure, which improves performance for users, among other benefits like reducing strain elsewhere. It's also easy for our local users to remember that old.lemmy.ca goes to the old interface, photon.lemmy.ca to photon, blorp.lemmy.ca to blorp etc. We are taking down the Tesseract one.

  • Winters' lawyers alleged the platform "repeatedly and insistently misdiagnosed" him while drawing on previous discussions about religion to assure him he would recover.

I forgot that it "learns" now, I haven't tried it in a long while 🤦

  • I think people are tired of these headlines because we've seen the same thing for many companies, without lasting consequences. It's even worse for elon musk related stocks, because of how much manipulation those ones go through.

I don't have a source, so take it with a grain of salt, but I vaguely remember a discussion that one of his companies couldn't remove him because the stock was artificially inflated by his presence. It might have been tesla

  • This guide page goes into what an alternative UI is, and some of the popular ones that are available. It is a little out of date, ~~lemmy.ca also dropped tesseract~~ we are no longer hosting Tesseract for lemmy.ca

    https://fedecan.ca/en/guide/threadiverse/alternative-uis

The controversy around tesseract is better explained elsewhere, but it boils down to a questionable blocklist that the dev was injecting into the tool, without it being made apparent to the users or admins

  • This seems simple enough

According to The Guardian, which covered the story earlier this week following the court’s first hearing on Monday, Atlanta resident Samuel Tunick is fighting the charges. Tunick’s attorneys said that it was unlawful for U.S. Customs and Border Protection to seize his phone as he arrived back in the U.S. last year and that any evidence — including the alleged wiping of his phone — should be thrown out.

Also for context, the resident was targeted for connection to protests

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/23/cop-city-protester-phone

The US Department of Justice is attempting to prosecute an Atlanta resident in connection with the movement against the police training center known as Cop City because he had GrapheneOS on his phone, an open-source operating system that enables users to enter a passcode and wipe a phone clean.

The defendant, Sam Tunick, was stopped for interrogation at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport on 24 January last year, after vacationing in the Dominican Republic. Unbeknown to him, federal authorities had put him on a terrorism watchlist because of his alleged association with the movement against Cop City.

Opposition to the $109m police training center, which opened last spring, came from a wide range of local and national organizations and protesters, centered on concerns around police militarization and clearing forests in an era of climate crisis. Atlanta police said the center was needed for “world-class” training and to attract new officers.

Several state attempts to prosecute Cop City protesters have foundered in the last several years, while this is the second recent federal effort, after the justice department announced another indictment last month.

  • Sounds like we should get this place ready for another wave of people

  • I found this whole comment thread to be a waste of time, here:

For anyone that wants it, you can use GeoShare to interconvert between different map/location service links. When I tapped the Google maps link in this post, it opened in GeoShare and I could use the map app of my choice.
