  • Not really, tons of companies in silicon valley burn through billions in cash and never even reach $100M in revenue, much less 4x on billions in revenue, that's gotta be single digits in the amount of companies.

    Snowflake in there prime when they had the largest IPO ever only got 50% yoy growth after $1b in revenue. 4x is insane

  • Hate on openai all you want but 4xing your revenue over a year is no small feat. Only 4 companies have gone from $1b to $10b in 3 years, Google, Uber, Cheniere and moderna

    Not as bad as I thought honestly. Looks like they're making a profit on inference, it's just training the models is costing them a shit ton in R&D.

    If we hit a plateau and training new models isn't worth it and they scale back there R&D the business could be profitable. Not enough to justify there absurd evaluation, but not a money pit that some people in this thread would have you believe.

  • Haven't used cursor but I assume it's like other harnesses where the special sauce is in how it manages context, schedules sub agents, feeds them context, enforces standards, uses tools and skills etc. that make it better then just directly prompting the model.

    For example you prompt opus directly with "refactor the auth flow" and it's going to try and "one shot" it and produce the code from that prompt. Whereas a harness has instructions to say

    1. Research the current implementation
    2. Search the web for standards
    3. Ask the user questions on how they want to do it ...

    Which produces way better results

Zeidan (part of cats family) has released a memecoin honoring KitKat’s legacy, and also said that he was disappointed to see others launch their own imitation tokens in an attempt to profit off KitKat’s death.

    He says he's going to use the money to support local vets, but why don't you just share some links to spca to donate directly, you're providing nothing but a way for you to grift by taking the money through meme coins.

  • IDK they've been pretty on top of this. I remember earlier this year there was a story about them honking all night at there depot and they released a patch to fix it in a couple days. They are trying to get approval to drive to the airport so they're very sensitive to public opinion and the politicians in charge of approving that.

  • Man the ai hate is so strong on lemmy they can't even admit when it's good at something. Though I'm guessing a lot of these people's experience with getting recipes from it is memes of bad hallucinations and not actually trying it looking at all the "glue on pizza" takes.

    I'll back you up though, have gotten a lot of good recipes from chatgpt, even for baking which doesn't have a lot of room for error.

  • To all the people in here saying "I could warn them and help them prepare to take on the conquistadores" while the sentiment is good, the conquistadores weren't the ones that wiped them out, it was smallpox and other diseases. So unless you can synthesize a vaccine, or just expose them to it then so they can recover population in a couple centuries, they're doomed no matter what.
