  • The actual notification telling you there is a message shouldn't contain the content if its sensitive, it should only carry an ID to said message, and im certain this is what signal does. Thats like the most utter basic thing about notifications.

    Once that notification arrives, the system decides what to show you after fetching the message from the ID in the background. You can opt to keep that private or show it.

    In this case if you opt to show it, it leaks.

  • With Claude Code being able to run stuff it creates, it could be as simple as it's in a sandbox, it finds out there's an exploit in the sandbox while you ask it to work on security things, and it tests the code, it breaks the sandbox, and now it has permissions outside it.

  • Maybe there was this one dev who joined the company 20 years ago, and has seen it deteriorate ever since. He's worked his way up to the top, and thinks the company needs to be destroyed, but they're an ad company, so the only way to do that is to kill ads.

    After years of planning, he came up with the idea of making the ads so horrible, that people stop using services, or the ad blockers become ungodly powerful they can never be stopped.

    Ultimately, it will be the end of Google, but it is the long play.

  • You can still install them, they announced the rules weeks ago.

    1. You need to go into the phone settings and enable developer mode (this doesn't mean YOU'RE a developer)
    2. Flip a setting to on that will allow it
    3. See some scary prompts and acknowledge no one is asking you to do this
    4. Reboot the phone (its intended to cut off communication with who might be scamming you). (edit: I think this reboot step specifically is a clever idea)
    5. Wait 24 hours.
    6. Install the app

    From there you can keep the phone in the 'unlocked' state, or allow it to relock after 7 days.

    I'm not saying this is good, but it IS still possible.

  • For note taking only, id be fine IF it was all run locally with no ability to be trained on.

    Id want assurances from the Dr that they also carefully review the notes immediately after or that I get to see the notes before leaving due to the risk of hallucinations that could cause future care problems.

    They could have it visible on a screen while youre in the room with you to help you be sure its accurate.

    Edit: id care less about it being local if it wasn't medical/legal in nature.

  • I hope the R2 works out well. I'm not planning on getting a new car in the near future, so by the time I do, it should have all it's kinks ironed out and be a great towing vehicle for a light camping trailer.

  • Most car dealers have months of inventory, Tesla typically has a couple weeks or less. In the grand scheme of things compared to other automakers this is actually tiny, and they are usually on the bottom of the list of OEM inventory.

    For Tesla though, this is higher than usual, and unless most of them are in transit to customers, indicative of an issue.
