  • That's a great point. If they aren't scanning for things, they likely wouldn't be held responsible, but if they are scanning things, now they are the arbiters of what gets passed on or not.

    ChatGPT had an issue where someone got flagged for being a risk, they assessed it in person and decided not to action it, and then something happened. They're being sued and the Canadian government is getting involved.

    What has snapchat now actively decided not to action, where something bad happens, now that we know they read everything?

    Then they stopped making them and went back to 5x.

    This phone still works great

  • Anything that would do meaningful damage to a camera sensor will easily to that to human eyeballs if it refracts or gets reflected.

    I don't think that's true? The lidars on Waymo have been known to damage camera sensors but are safe to the eyes. By damage, like a pixel or two go out, but that's from a random hit. If you did it right you could do more damage.

  • Thats not how puts work. Thats shorting the stock directly.

    A put is an options contract. You can never lose more than your purchase.

    If you pay $5.00 for a Jan $50 strike, you pay $500 (1 contract is 100 shares). As the date comes closer it becomes worth less, but as it approaches $50 or goes below it also becomes worth more. You can make a lot of money on a far out of the money put that goes near or in the money.

    If it was $50 in November that put might be worth $40 (x100) so $4,000 and you paid $500.

    The put becomes worth nothing if its over $50 by strike date.

    Its a much safer way to bet against something than directly shorting.

  • I do have a LG TV and I did connect it to the internet a long time ago. Im super annoyed at how they push updates in a way they try to make you press OK as you were doing something else.

    Anyway, after accidentally triggering one, I turned the TV off interrupting it.

    Now it just prompts me to continue it, to which I say no. It doesnt seem to be able to move beyond this now, so I've kind of locked it into where it is for now.
