  • Your eu.cc domains are fine. You don't need to spend money on a 2nd-level domain if you're happy with the longer name.

For comparison, I've had a nl.eu.org domain for decades, and never had any issues. I also had a number of .tk domains for a while and those all went away when the business managing the domain got sued out of existence. I currently use nom.es domains for various tests.

  • Huh. With my impacted wisdom tooth they just broke it in half with a hammer and then twisted the pieces out with some calipers. The anesthesia was good, so I didn't feel pain, but the crunching and scraping sounds were... off-putting.

  • In the late Middle Ages some scholars argued that there could not be humans in the southern hemisphere... a.k.a. antipodes

The idea was that it gets hotter and hotter as you go further south. Eventually it would get too hot for people to survive, certainly at the equator. So you can't cross to the temperate parts of the southern hemisphere.

The Bible doesn't mention creating any other people on the other side of the planet, and none can get there from the northern hemisphere, so therefore they must not exist. Q.E.D.

  • Are you sure that you're hiding under a pile of pillows at parties properly?

  • You never know. I thought Devuan was a fantasy but the team's burning hatred was enough to make it work. ¯(ツ)

  • Ah great. It looks like you have a mostly empty encrypted partition with LVM on top of it. If memory serves you might be able to resize the logical volume and the ext4 filesystem in a single command.

  • I prefer file systems that checksum data. Without this it is difficult to know when there has been corruption. I generally use brtfs for this reason.

  • Banning cars and planes will help a bit, but it's really everything. Concrete emits carbon dioxide. Raising animals emits carbon dioxide. Moving goods around emits carbon dioxide. And so on...

But in principle you are right that we don't need genocide!

  • Aviation is about 2.5% of global emissions.

In the long run then yes, we need carbon neutral fuels, but it should be possible for people to fly a little and not destroy the planet.

  • Bless you, comrade.

  • Was it Kant who thought that an act could only be good if done for good reasons? 🤔

  • Super interesting! I have a jar with a lid that I tried to scale up and the threads just fail. I wonder if I can try some overgang magic on it. 🤔

  • In America there are only two parties. The Republican party is actively hostile to the interests of black people, if not explicitly racist. Since the Democrats - while not generally taking any actions to, you know, improve anything - are not. So like 89% of black voters choose Democratic candidates.

The Supreme Court recently ruled that it is not illegal to change voting districts to prevent the other party from winning. A simple example of that might be taking a city and dividing it into three sections, each of which extends far out into the countryside. Now no single section has a majority of city voters.

In the latest rulings, the Supreme Court also ruled that anyone in such a district must prove that it was done for racial reasons, and not for a pure partisan power grab. States all across the South of the US immediately rewrote their election maps to favor Republicans.

This ends up taking away black representation. Some states have 40% black citizens, and will now have 0% representatives.

Sure seems racist, but the people in power say it's not.
