  • Also, any non-trivial system has failure modes that are not binary. Like, if your convertible car has the roof stuck down you can drive it, but you will be sad if it rains. So, is the car "up" or not? Similarly, if your site has writes offline for a database upgrade, but reads work fine, is it "up"?

The concept is just advertising and something that makes sense to senior management, but provides no actual useful metrics.

  • "radio's volume" or "radios' volumes" is probably what you mean. 😘

  • The exact pseudoscience that we expect from a rag like The Sun.

  • I don't think that it's the color that is the problem for the parents, but what the colors represent.

  • "locked PDF"... " upload to Claude"... 🙈🙉🙊

  • TIL, thanks!

  • I hope that Spock knows what "T and a HB" means, because I surely do not. 🙈

  • Note that GoG also has sales. 😅

  • Me too!

  • When the EU mandated USB-C, Apple included a bullshit adapter so they could keep their proprietary charger. But of course if someone with an iPhone was visiting my house they wouldn't have an adapter with them. Eventually the EU bitch-slapped Apple over that nonsense and now iPhones have USB-C for charging.

So, companies will definitely try to weasel out of serving consumers, and the EU will eventually sort them out.

  • a core basket of everyday groceries will be 30 percent cheaper at the five new municipal grocery stores. The basket will include all fresh produce, meat and seafood, along with roughly 20 additional categories of pantry staples, dairy and refrigerated goods

It's right there in the link.

  • Which was 32 of 35.

  • I mean sure if you bothered to read it and not just ctrl-a ctrl-c ctrl-v.

  • Yeah so maybe literally every student used AI but 3 read the output before submitting.

  • Why not just say "32 of 35 students"?

  • University degrees serve at least two functions.

One function is a sort of guarantee that you have the knowledge and skills of the particular degrees you obtain.

The other function is to show that you are the kind of person who gets university degrees... whether that is because you are competent or just that you come from a socio-economic background that values university degrees nad can afford them.

For that second function cheating matters very little if you don't get caught.

For the first function, it might also not be super relevant. I had to take a humanities class for my computer science degree. If I had cheated on the theater exam it would not have made me a worse programmer. 😄
