Pandas reproduce just fine in nature. The myth of them being bad at fucking and making babies was a myth started from before we understood zoochosis. No animal wants to have babies in a prison, it’s not just pandas.
Sort of in the same boat, but I also feel like that is a specific case of a book to movie adaptation in that it feels like it’s meant to be watched before reading the book and that it knows that it is not the book. Coscarelli seems to have intentionally done the film in a way to not spoil the book because they knew there was no way they could ever make a proper adaptation without a budget like Endgame had, but they still managed really nail the feel of the book and characters, and that opening primer is so integral to that feel.
Most of the time I’d agree, but when it comes to John Dies At The End, I don’t think the brain was in control of the body for any part of that scenario.
Are they evil, or are they just functioning on a different level of reality than us and doing what is required of them for their basic survival? The spider is evil to the fly, a brutal and savage monster, but to the spider it is simply and purely survival, no more and no less.
