  • Isn’t that a water buffalo?

or as you woul call it a water bison...

Also the city was not on land, which had American bison, so no it is not named after the animal.

  • Yes, for real. It is a shame that the European water buffalo is extinct for thousands of years. But we there are obviously Asian water buffalo in say Italy for mozarella production. It might make for a good proxy. Thankfully we do have some permafrost examples, so cloning might be an option.

  • This is a buffalo:

They are not the same animal as American bison, which are also not European bison for that matter.

  • I honestly doubt, that it would take that long. Nukes can end a war pretty quickly.

  • Most people who die in wars are civilians. Especially if WW3 goes nuclear, that would probably be most of them. However that is basically just nuking all major cities in China or so.

  • A good chunk of the Iranian diaspora are the old supporters of the monarchy. Under the Shah Iran and Israel were allies. Also a lot of Iranians are strongly racist against Arabs. The fact that a lot of Arabs killed family members, when Iraq invaded them in 1980 and an eight year long bloody war followed, certainly does not help.

Not saying Israels genocide is a good thing, but the Iranian diaspora is probably a bad gauge to judge Iran by.

  • Oh sorry dollar, I thought you meant RMB, because you wrote so much about China, and just miss wrote that. Also most stuff is not made in China. Share of global GDP of China is like 20% or so.

  • East Asian countries also have much lower denominated currencies in general. One USD gives you 158 Japanese Yen or 1505 South Korean Won. Even a Taiwan Dollar is much weaker at 31 = 1 USD.

Currencies are somewhat made up. What matters most is how they move against each other. Usually this is going to balance trade naturally. However it can be manipulated to increase exports for example.

  • And, of course, the crooked politicians here in Europe are actually following America more than China in this.

That is much less the case then it might appear. Out of the Top10 largest EV makers three are European(Volkswagen, BMW and Stellantis). When you look at wind, Europe has a few of the largest companies in the world. Europe is also basically the only place even attempting to compete with China in batteries, since Trump cut US support for that industry. There are plenty of more niche industries as well, in which Europe has some very strong companies.

  • Thank god no European family of significance has ever done anything like this.

  • Not the one in Venezuela, but Cuba. Without the oil from Venezuela Cuba has an insane problem.

  • Past promised pedestrians slasher and present delivers.

  • The Federal Reserve has unemployment figures as well and they are relatively low. They also claim the US is loosing jobs, so not a great future for them.

  • Less competition for American workers(similar story for tariffs). There is a reason for unemployment is so low and that is mainly that the US is loosing population to migration, which has not been the case for basically ever. The issue is that the trade war is hurting the US economy, so workers do not really benefit from it.

At the same time capitalist like it to a degree, as it makes migrants much more dependent on their jobs, then American workers. As in visas often depend on having a job.

Obviously capitalists still want migrants to exploit.
