  • Bizarre but it has a certain insane logic. He wanted to die by jumping out of a plane but he didn't want the plane to crash and kill anyone, cause a fire or whatever. He even told her "you know what to do" to give her confidence.

  • During the flight, Bertazzo allegedly told Rosario, “You know what to do” before removing his headset, arranging his belongings, taking off his seatbelt and exiting the aircraft.

    Importantly, the article also says she was trained, but still needed some hours with an instructor or pilot before being allowed to fly solo. He must have decided his other student that day wasn't ready but felt she'd be safe without him. Better than some suicidal pilots who have crashed the whole plane.

  • Does he? The Republican majority in the Senate is 53-47 right now. McConnell holds the seat but can't show up to vote on anything. He also can't participate in his committees. He's not an asset, he's a hindrance to Republican goals. A Special Election would likely result in a fresh new young Republican who could move the evil agenda forward and who'd then be the incumbent for the next 40 years. Unless you think there's such a groundswell of Democratic Socialism in Kentucky that you could flip the seat, but I have doubts.

  • Oh hi again, I commented on your other post. Good on you, sealing the house and with your solar fridge setup. This other commenter knows their stuff. See if you can find out more about whether your home experienced heat from the fire (spot fires in your yard would be a clue that hot winds blew through) or not. And because your whole area was affected, your local and state government will probably have helpful resources and information so tap into that. Be aware that you may see animals (wild or pets) displaced by the fires. I live near the Pacific Palisades but was luckily upwind and got no real damage and I'm still getting visits to my feeder from wild birds and squirrels that don't usually come into human areas.

  • I don't know about your cats but mine have shown no interest in wet laundry, or dirty laundry, only fresh warm dry laundry. But since my building's laundry room is in the basement I don't really have experience with having a machine in the house.

    When I had kids I would fold the laundry down there, for a few quiet moments of feeling organized. Now I bring it up immediately and chirrup as I dump it on the spare bed so the cats can enjoy it first.

  • Slow and steady on the weight loss: try using a little scale to weigh the usual portions you give her (you can include the scoop as long as you always use the same one) and after you have an average over a day or two, start making her new portion size just a few grams less. Between that and more playtime she'll slim down without being too mad at you.

    If you have only been doing dry food you could also try changing one of her meals to wet food, keeping the same amount by weight. Dry food is more caloric per gram because water is heavy. The extra hydration will help her feel satisfied and be good for her kidneys.
