  • How so. Who was the last left leaning person that people rallied around?

Cause I can name multiple random people who flat out hard r someone and ended up a millionaire. How about the ICE agent that killed someone, millionaire. How about that fat kid that shot someone in the riots,, millionaire.

Get fucking over yourself I don't care if it don't like what i said. Prove me wrong. End of the day, if you're offended I don't give a shit. I'm tired of you people acting morally and intelligently superior yet failing every fucking day

  • Do you think we're not fucked?

This is the world now. It's engagement.

  • As bad as AI is. It is still a new technology and it's an arms race right now. Lemmy is influenced heavily by Chinese bots. Lemmy is also small but not small enough to be ignored. It leans left and towards tech users. If you go back to see the early posts for AI, you'll see a ton of astro turfing. Again, AI has issues. But if you follow right wing media you can see the markers of propaganda and astro turfing because the always need to churn new ideas. For example MAID was new in Canada. The right needed to get everybody on board. So early on you could see a big push in regards to content that isn't organic.

It was the same here on the left with AI. The difference here is that it isn't from the right. American right want to embrace this and build data centers. I suspect that China is behind it and wants to create chaff on the left to prevent us from actually building and innovating with AI. At the same time it's also a tool that can rapidly parse text, semantic analysis, opsec and investigations. Which can help create tools to help detect more astroturfing and bots online which powers that be really do not want the left to do. So they really produced so much content to push us all against it. To the point if anyone even smells AI you all instantly swarm. That's manufactured in the same way the right respond to opinions they're given. If you told someone on the right that their opinions on abortion or guns or patriotism is heavily influenced by special interest, what would they say? Would the agree or tell you it's not politics it's common sense

  • The fact that it's a normal opinion now doesn't mean it's a good opinion. It's people like this. ml user that is partially responsible for how bad things are now.

It's like when the department of forest management decided to stop doing controlled burns. It let a lot of dead fall collect and become fuel for the largest forest fires.

Users like this seem benign but they are not. Played right into the hands of right wing groups.

  • I think we have way more ability to shape things then people believe. I remember at one point reddit said something like only 10% of users comment. Even less posted. Those were us. It was the nerds.

And no we weren't short sighted because the early days of the internet everyone knew about data scarcity and how eventually the people who ruined cable and movies and every other media platform would come for the internet. There was so many people yelling that we needed to safe guard against that. But then Metallica sued Napster. Pewdiepie made millions. YouTube introduced ads. Instead of fucking them up, we all just went with it and forgot.

  • Cool. How much of the world is based of your opinion vs theirs.

Maybe you need to start caring

  • You don't. But normal people do. Also why are you out of .ml there might be different opinions out here

  • I mean that's just called gofund me but leftist just don't fund anything. But if you call a black child a slur you can become a millionaire overnight

  • This is fox news levels of propaganda but on the left

  • Man you people never learn do you. Linux isn't secure from what windows is doing.

  • But it could have been different. I just think we were responsible for the culture. This stuff was inevitable. But we had the ability to shape the culture and instead they dangled a trinket in front of us and we forgot and they captured the new frontier like they did with others.

But now maybe if we can reflect, find out what was done, create awareness and vigilance to fight them in the next frontier whenever that is

  • WUT? Why?

Monetization is the root of a majority of our issues. Without monetizing you don't get data scarcity, profile tracking, Meta, Cambridge analyticals and eventually data that feeds into the current political systems. There is a direct arrow to our current problems that goes from early days of the internet up through the monetization into data scarcity, data collection and all the marketing tools that eventually feed into modern propaganda. Safe guarding against scarcity by creating a hostile internet and culture to monetization would have prevented all of this going on currently. We can't ever go back to that. We only ever had one chance. New frontiers do not show up every century. Our job was to keep the people who ruined everything else away.

  • It's so fucking mind blowing you all are trapped in this corner discussion some real issues others should know about but you all decided that wasn't really important. Nobody knows this shit and if they did they'd be fucking pissed.

I just can't believe Steve Miller told you all to fuck off and you did 😆

  • Hear me out. From day one we all needed to collectively reject any effort to make any profit online. I don't care if you built something cool, sold furry art or create some neat SAAS. Day one everything should have been stolen and replicated. Everyone should have been terrified of putting anything online out of fear that the monetary value would go to 0 as it was digitally recreated. We wouldn't be in this situation today with Trump if we stood our ground. We'd have flying cars and world peace

  • I think if you remove yourself from any tech forums they'll get the message.

  • By the way. You cannot ever add an app to the only store you're allowed to use that does not accept ads that we will force on all customers.

  • I've been banned as well. I reset my IP and get back to their groups.

I don't think we got pushed out so much as they made it hostile. They weaponized reporting. That's fine. We can to except we can't any longer since we didn't organize well.

The glue being this is the network. I watched them connect their network pre 2016. I didn't get at the time why it was happening. But you could see small random annoying fucks adding everybody. It turned into a wild organized information dissemination network. That's how they weaponized reporting and made it appear that all these platforms were against the left.

But ask yourself why the effort. It's a few accounts driving it all. It's heritage TPUSA foundation interns spending 40 hrs a week using 4chan tactics. It's going to get worse very quickly very soon with the election coming. We should be disrupting them, not rolling out a red carpet

  • So you know, this week the modern nazi group patriot front is creating lots of posts and comments. So you can say "not my problem" but next year when you're wondering why so many people accepted these racists as heroes, just know it was because they had no push back and could frame themselves as whatever they want. Rinse and repeat every month for whatever the months thing is.

  • You mistranslated what I wrote.
