    Why people don't like strawberry drinks that would be clear without the red dye or probably don't enjoy them as much.

    If you think something will taste good by appearance you can slightly trick yourself into the thing actually tasting better. Grill marks don't make the steak better, but people expect them.

    We are weird animals. Probably part of that primitive brain that categorizes items that could kill you if you eat them using sight or smell that is being hijacked.

  • I don't really know, but they all came sealed in airtight bags that we had to cut open. They had some preservation chemical sealed inside as well, not formaldehyde at the time because it was known to cause cancer. But the smell was something I'll never forget.

    There was enough for all of us to pair up and share one, so it was a lot of pig fetuses. They looked like they were very late in the gestational phase about to be born, because they had all their bits, hooves, eyes... basically fully formed newborns right before birth.

    I can only imagine someone had a connection with a slaughter house because of the sheep's heads as well. Probably things the farm would toss out but made a buck off of selling for dissection to local labs.

  • Is this referring to different countries biology classes? Because in high school we dissected a sheep's head, a pig fetus, rats, and earth worms.

    My science teacher wanted to get us euthanized cats from the shelter to dissect. But the school said no, he was disappointed and shared that with us.

  • I hear this, but overall their has been a medical scare on the overuse of painkillers in general. So I think it's more what type of doctor you have than "who you are".

    I (male) had shingles during COVID lockdown and was only allowed 2 strong painkiller capsules. I asked for more and was told essentially to just try and ignore it and take common over the counter painkillers. They did absolutely nothing and the doctor knew they did nothing.

    I recall sitting in agony a lot not able to do anything else because the pain was so intense. Just sweating and wincing, trying to not think about it. Last time I used that doctor for anything.

    Meanwhile my parents had a literal shoebox filled to the top with fentanyl patches left over after surgeries they both had because their doctor was just throwing them at them. They had serious pain, but their doctor just didn't give a fuck and would throw things anytime they asked. Probably because he thought they were going to die soon anyway.

  • I too wonder this sometimes. Than I realize a lot of men are clueless in general about the opposite sex.

    I think the motivation of a lot of people like this is to just have meaningless sex. Someone is not flashing their dick to a future spouse. Not many stories I have heard where it goes "Once I saw that dick pic, I knew your father was the one."
