  • What if you can only reincarnate to 'conscious' species? We can even go further than that and say that you can only reincarnate to 'conscious' individuals, meaning that most people could technically be literal NPC's.

  • Barely any. Just Poland (my country), Czechia, Slovakia and technically Austria (for few hours).

    I definitely want to go to Baltics (Lithuania/Latvia/Estonia), Belarus, Ukraine, Hungary and Austria in the relatively near future, but I haven't even explored my country that much, so it's also on my bucket list.

    The biggest problem is that I don't really have anyone to travel with, so for most of my life I just didn't do that, and only recently (couple of years ago) I have started to do it, but still very rarely.

    Year ago I found out that going to various language meetings is perfect for me. Not only I practice my non-native languages (English and Russian), I also socialize more than ever.

  • I am using Debian stable, since I no longer care about having latest stuff and the whole Debian-like ecosystem is what I am the most familiar with. As for Ubuntu I never had good experience with it, with random crashes all the time last time I used it (about 10-12 years ago), and when I tried it last year, I encountered random crashes in GNOME apps just after finishing setup.

    Linux Mint (regular or LMDE) is what I'd probably install on other people computers though. Literally never had problems with it (used it about 10 years ago on a netbook).

  • Yeah, but will updates work? And even if they do, what's stopping Microsoft in disabling them somehow?

    Nowadays if you want to have usable Windows installation you need to use a bunch of 3rd party scripts that might break on next update. Learning Linux is easier than this shit.

    I can't wait for someone to ask me how to solve some shit in Windows, and me saying that I don't have patience for this crap.

  • I am envious of people who are able to do that. Best I can do is probably ride my bike few times a week, in distances from about 40-50 km, but definitely not in the morning, lol.

    And I hate running. I've tried it and I hated it. Literally the only good thing about it is when I was going back home to take a shower.

  • You don't really need to use any command-line interface or commands if you are running beginner-friendly Linux distro (Linux Mint, Zorin OS, etc.). Well, maybe except when things go very bad, but that's very rare if you use your system like average user.

Even if you are running modern Windows, there's no DOS in it to be seen, even though command interpreter (cmd.exe) is very close to what was typically used in DOS (MS-DOS, PC-DOS, DR-DOS, etc.) - COMMAND.COM. You are probably aware that the built-in commands there are actually very similar or the same as in MS-DOS. That's because Microsoft didn't want to make them different, probably mostly for compatibility reasons. There's of course also PowerShell and Bash (and other Linux shells) if you run WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux).

    And these command interpreters are always (on NT Windows at least) opened in a terminal application, typically the older Console Host or the newer Windows Terminal.

  • Developers can just make a flatpak, publish it on flathub (or their own repo if they want, but ugh) and that's it. Then you install the app through GUI package manager or by executing flatpak install <package name> command in your favorite terminal.

  • If you don't count professional software, nowadays it's actually the opposite. Very often in proprietary software there are features removed with no alternative provided by developers, or there's one but actually it has nothing to do with what you actually want.
