  • Yarp. Same advice many give for kitchen tools. Buy a cheap assortment set of everything for $20. (You get the point). Then when you break the can opener splurge on a heavy duty 1. 5 years later you'll find out half of the original cheap shit is still there, as you learned of another tool you preferred or simply never use some. Instead of paying $15 per good utensile and having a $150 up front cost, you get up and going for $20. And likely by the time you break 8 tools, you will know more about what you want/use.

  • For me its that even if I pay for 1gb/down, it drops to around 25mb down. That was after I switched off spectrum, which I had 200 down, and would fall to 5mb/s down, and I would start to lose VoIP calls while using any amount of remote software. Would happen just about daily and one of the main times it would happen was around noon. Now I could have switched to a business line to see if I could get more guaranteed stable bandwidth, but honestly it's just bull shit that the infrastructure is that bad in the first place. I would like the FCC to mandate instead of max up/down speeds possible, that minimum up/down speeds (outside of outages, which outage time should be reported as well) as what is advertised. So instead of 1Gb/down for just $69.99/month, we see 50mb/s down minimum for $69.99/ month, and all times their infrastructure does not meet their advertized rate which you are paying for, is moved to $0. So you bill decreases based upon outages.

    Also remember his first attempt running for President was in 2000, when he said his running mate was going to be Oprah Winfrey. He held events in California, Florida, and Minnesota before dropping out. I believe he talked about 1 or 2 other presidential runs as well, but never had his ducks in a row. So it was about his 4th time attempting to figure it out in 2016, 5th 2020 and now his 6th time running in 2024.

  • 10 mins later: Mississippi is introducing a mandated co-op middle and high school. Where students only need to be in class 2 days a week and get hands on experience in desirable fields such as farming/agriculture. You just have to work 2 days a week to make sure you get your credits to get to the next grade!

  • He is the leader of the army. He can send the army to do as he wishes (for a set amount of time and then Congress can force him to withdraw and not provide funding as well. Which would likely result in an impeachment and removal if Congress didn't support what he did) He is not the leader of legislation, so he cannot make legislation when he wishes.

    The HHS is a deciding factor with set rules created by Congress. To change it would be invalid and blocked by any judge before going into effect. Destroying the credibility of what was occuring and killing it in its tracks when it could otherwise finish. Trump doesn't want to stop that, neither does Kennedy (Pretty sure he's for it)

    The reason charges for drugs are different in every state is because they are state laws, tried by those states.

  • I wouldn't pay for an O365 account just to get that to work, probably better to see if you can just find a free app that doesn't have them. Thunderbird used to be good years ago and free, but I never used it for Android, just Linux based machines. I'm sure there is someone around Lemmy that has a billion thoughts to share on what clients are ad free, ethical, and don't cause baby pandas to have a heart attack, haha

  • Yeah that's gross, from what I'm seeing Microsoft is saying if you do not have an email that is attached to a paid O365 account and have the free mobile app they fund it by those ads. If you do pay for the O365 subscription on your account or your work email is one Id try this: Settings. Tap Security and Privacy >Privacy>Other Privacy Settings> Ads. Tap Reset Advertising ID and confirm your changes.

    If that doesn't work maybe uninstall the app and reinstall making sure the playstore is logged in with the email tied to the O365 account

    That blows, curious if that does anything.

  • Is that the Outlook coming from the Intune company portal app, or a personal install from the playstore and just adding an email they let you add? Sounds terrible. Most of the work I was doing as to had it all running through Intune, so I didn't ever see that stuff. I could see how that would turn off most users. On our end just about every time security updates came out it would lock out the ability to access teams, outlook or anything until the updates were performed, and you logged back into the comp portal app to ensure the device was secure against whatever new threat there might be. So you'd have to set up confirm with 2 factors to get signed back in every couple months and require at least a pin to get into your emails.

  • Yeah, Outlook has a lot of little things that throw people. Just getting people to find the view settings they want is tough sometimes, and font size in outlook doesn't change with the character size of the OS being changed. Automatically disabling com add-ons that are supposed to not disable by group policy do to "slow start times" of outlook. Online calendars are a mess, sync issues, filter issues, spam issues, the spam blockers within the admin console of o365. Convincing people to get rid of .pst files. .pst files not being compatible with onedrive, importing .pst files to their online archive (which is really just a second email storage on the back end). Takes forever, then half don't import properly, then you get them to re-run it and maybe it works but you have duplicates. Deleted emails that need recovery a month after they realized they needed it.

    Sometimes it makes me realize why companies push users to just use the Webapp, but there's always something.

    Didn't even touch the distros or shared emails/calendars yet lol

  • Those do make good passwords though. Had a company switch from 10 characters including special, caps, numbers lower upper requirements to 15+ with no requirements because it still would end up being harder to crack. Started using phrases where you could even put spaces, but in all lower case for me if was much quicker to type

    I think it's because I have to pause to think shift 4, then hit 4 and remember if my fingers are still by the 4.

    All just examples but the standard keys... Are all automatic for me because of use.
