  • Yeah the only way I feel automation/AI is a success story is if we started a tally and said 50,000 jobs were replaced by robots because they are more efficient. So every person in the U.S. will be sent a check for $7. (Median wage x jobs replaced / population). So every job replaced built a universal base income.

    Basically making it, if it is more productive for our society as a whole to automate this position, then the whole of society benefits as well as the company. Eventually when 100, 200, 300 million jobs have been replaced people would be getting a base income of $13,500/$27,000/$40,000 a year.

    Sets the stage for the fact that if automation is more productive, then workers should only need to work less hours.

    For example farm work has decreased from 40% of the work force to 1.3% of the workforce in the U.S. from 1900 to now. Assuming they got paid less the median farm worker is around $36,000 a year right now (it's really higher, but I'm cutting out management positions and such). So if we just looked at farms alone. Every person in the U.S. should get an annual check for $13,932 every year to offset jobs lost.

    Would we "advance" slower, maybe.. maybe not. Someone having 30% of their time freed up may make some invent things faster, but really there isn't anything we need to be making to advance right now. Slowing everything down and sending people outside to enjoy the world around them would likely make people care more about preserving the world around them. Want less plastic in the Ocean, preserve more Ocean bottoms/species even if it is so they can have more diverse food to eat later on.

    One thing is for sure, stress would go down, happiness should go up as life wouldn't be go go go. Vacations would be more common. More wanting to be able to walk/bike/hike/swim and places to hang out. More wants of entertainment really.... Sorry for rambling

  • They want to stop people from coming into our country and buying products we sell here... Of course that's insane. That's exactly what any country should want if they believe in capitalism/global markets. Money coming into your economy is like the entire point of these tarrifs MAGA believes in. The only way they make sense is if you ignore logic and just say we want our money spent here and limit how much of our wealth gets spread to other countries. Within a global market for one country to be rich, others must be poor really. Exports > Imports = country getting richer. This limits exports, "because we don't like them.". It really shows they don't give a fuck about the companies making money either, hate Trump's all.

    Granted it's just a tiny impact because there are so few of them.

  • Varies I assume, but if a company moves from CA to FL they get over a 3% income tax cut. And that boosts jobs in Florida, which would mean higher demand for jobs in Florida and less taxes paid by the person as well.

    Texas I think has like no corporate income taxes, so they'd get more than 8% cut. Not sure how they make up their taxes though, so they might offset it elsewhere.

  • Sometimes it is taxes. But at this point auto insurance, home insurance and such should outweigh just paying income taxes in Florida. Maybe rent prices don't reflect it though, I don't know.

  • Well the primaries are essentially company votes for sponsorship, in which they don't matter but for that company. So I get the argument that people outside of the party shouldn't be able to vote in it, but I also wish parties weren't a thing. The votes for actual positions are on everyones ballots. So you can vote against your party or for anyone, you just can't influence what the party is sponsoring for that position beforehand because you aren't registered within that "company."

    It's all a mess, especially that it's different everywhere

  • There was a while that I exclusively used apps where I could lower the bitrate of music I listened to. Because I'm not rocking crazy good headsets and such for when I needed it, and I really saw no reason to use up larger amounts of data when I was listening to music over the sound of a lawnmower walking around the yard for an hour. If I was going to leave music on and not have wifi, it just didn't seem worth it.

    Also if you had poor bandwidth in an area, it plays better
