  • It is pretty awesome, only real problem is that if you have to replace anything in the middle, you have to shutdown everything above it too.

That being said, it's pretty fucking rad.

  • Every job gets a little more techie every year. I'm sure the master plumbers use some pretty sophisticated software to plan out the plumbing in a house.

Heck, just a simple job needs planning, billing, and more. All of which use computer systems.

Even just knowing logic and high end math is showing that you're not just a knucklehead looking to do the bare minimum.

Every bit of experience you had in a previous role can be used in the current one. Just spend a few minutes thinking of how it would work and use that in any interviews you get.

Just remember, even though most of these folks didn't go to university, doesn't mean they're any dumber than you are. If they're doing high quality work, they're probably just as smart, or smarter.

  • Don't get discouraged if you don't get picked right away. Sometimes they have a year or more backlog on apprenticeships.

If you stick it out, it can be a great career!

  • I like the way he did the comparisons, very easy to understand which one is better for what he was doing.

Pretty cool that you can get such a high quality, metal 3d print of a nozzle for so cheap, even if you have to do a lot of finish machine work yours, the hardest part was done with such high precision.

  • You know... I just had to test it.

Just threw together a model with some holes, it's actually faster to print without the holes, even though it uses slightly less material, because there's fewer retractions and nozzle hopping around.

I'm sure you can optimize it more, but for a quick test, just throwing a solid disc out there will most likely be faster to print.

edit: accidentally had the gear teeth bigger on the non-hole version - they're the same now.

  • I clean out my SnakeBox pretty regularly. Sometimes there just isn't a reason to keep them anymore.

It's worse having to dig through a bunch of garbage to find the cable you want, then to have to order a new cable once every 10 years.

  • What about smart wall switches instead? What are you trying to automate?

Almost all of the lighting I have that I automate, I do with a zigbee smart plug instead of a smart light.

  • You're probably going to be perfectly satisfied with either.

The M1D has the second tool mount, with all the pros and cons behind that.

The Core 1 is made in the EU, with a company that backs it's products, and will provide an upgrade path for any changes they make.

The Aurora Tech channel has a really good video showing the pre-release M1D along with a comparison to other similar printers.

Honestly, the Core One is a flagship product from a highly respected brand that pays its workers fairly and supports the products longer than they would be expected to. If you can afford it, I would go with the Prusa.

  • Ok, it was mentioned that she is a Trill with a symbiote that moves from host to host, BUT a couple relevant points.

1 - The worm (symbiote) that lives in them merges with the host, combining personalities. This symbiote has been joined to eight hosts at this point, which means there's about that meany people's lives in there.

2 - Not all trill get a symbiote, they typically go to a special academy and need to be in an elite group to get one. Once you merge, you can't unmerge without killing the host.

3 - this host, Ezri, was untrained and would not normally get a symbiote, but the previous host was killed and she was the closest available host, so she was assigned this symbiote without being properly prepared.

4 - two of the previous hosts - Curzon (a male host) and Jadzia (a female host) were extremely popular and well respected, which put a lot of extra pressure on the current host, leading to a lot of self doubt and personal identity confusion.

  • If you're going to carry a towel everywhere, then might as well wear it. But at that point I'm just saying everyone should just wear kilts.

  • Look, all I know is if I buy a computer and it breaks up with me and fucks off to another dimension, I'm asking for a refund.

  • It's not about voiding a warranty, it's about having a warranty claim processed.

You can maintain your stuff all you want, but if your shit breaks, and you want someone else to pay for it, you're going to have to let them fix it.

That means taking it to best buy, or another authorized repair shop.

  • Except that won't be valid for warranty repairs. If you want your computer fixed at the manufacturer's cost, you have to take it to a manufacturer certified shop. At least Best Buy can handle it locally and you don't need to sent it off.

  • To fill a morgue you just need a higher than average mortality rate.

If the ship only has room for 2, then a 3rd death means overflow.

Nobody said overflow means 100 people.

  • McConnell is a US senator. Beshear is the governor of the state of Kentucky.

Beshear has about the same legal authority to do something about it that you do.

    So... What's your excuse?

  • (note: haven't seen the new Spider-Man yet)

I hate the infowars JJJ. I always thought about him as a fairly respectable journalist that just has it in for Spider-Man for some reason. Mostly cause his early career was very suspicious, and he assumes the worst.

But the crazy conspiracy JJJ... Naw, that's just kinda lame.

  • You're assuming that you're falling down the stairs, and not just free falling over the ledge.
