If full time Walmart employees need government assistance programs to afford food and pay their rent, is it not Walmart who is leaning on government assistance?

  • It doesn't have to, similar to how an all powerful ruler doesn't necessarily have to be totalitarian, it could be better... it just chooses not to, and ironically our economy chose for it not to. There's something very sick to me about investing in a company doing good things for the world and then being told by new management of that company that stock holders aren't getting the returns they should and so their fiduciary responsibility would be to cut "unneeded jobs" slim process waste, expensive eco friendly packaging, and otherwise veer towards efficiency and maximum return instead of world impact.

    It seems like the moment a company goes public they become the same as everyone else. I think the laws around public ownership have gotten the wrong idea from people who directly trade stocks, who are traditionally far worse people than those would would look at a list and choose that one for mitigation of harm. By design? Or just the natural result of an expanding work week with a million things competing for our attention?

  • I agree, but put another way, it's much harder to show actions that result in profits for their big donors if the method of those profits being bigger is filtered through regular people and increasing their ability to afford the products of said donor. By keeping us out of the loop they can take more credit when their 6 or 2 year review comes up.

    Even when giving us that ability to afford things may in many cases lead to capital interests becoming very rich maybe even more rich than if they had put their effort torwards deregulation or corporate socialism/subsidies instead, especially in markets where the products are expensive but desirable to most people.

  • Universal Healthcare in their view is bad because it retracts capitalism for insurance "providers". Free college to them is bad because it retracts capitalism from banks who are able to create loans that follow someone their entire life through multiple bankruptcies. Taxing the rich is bad from their perspective because they think a higher tax burden retracts from the goal of capitalism, which is to be a slumlord or whatever.

    They don't allow those problems to be put* aside for the enormous benefits and freer economy when people aren't living paycheck to paycheck scared of what the next emergency is going to be with their body.

  • I don't really get it other than changing its convenience and efficiency. Superglue and wall loops make stronger parts of multiple pieces than priting it all in one.

    Maybe poor wording? I just mean their task is enormous to filter these parts in a way that actually targets them and nothing else and splitting pieces will invariably be the new technique for those people who are making them. The thing is when you're making gun pieces it's a disposable or sellable piece meaning they're likely producing multiple of the same models. They will easily adapt techniques that continue to work for them while our prints get filtered into that group despite having nothing to do with guns.

    I also think we should be able to print whatever the fuck we want with our own devices, but even from their perspective it's not going to work. This seems like a handwave attempt at garnering plausible deniability from high profile cases of murder as well as sucking up to politicians and pretending they actually care about the problem.

    Also in my original post I forgot this applies to CNC machines too, this is going to be a shitshow.

  • I cannot imagine being this triggered by something that's not too close to home. I think it's pretty obvious the reason why trans porn is becoming a top porn site search and it's a certainty that it's majority Republicans when they use title words like trap or shemale. Reddit is absolutely packed with these subs in every mundane search.

    Ironically the supposed "massive increase" of trans or non-binary identification clearly doesn't represent the real population with this many closeted bigots.

  • Also not an expert, but in basically all fields surface prep before any adhesive or coating is applied isn't an optional step. It's obviously a rushed job and even if it were cut, the adhesion should be good enough to deal with.... wind current induced at the top? The worst thing it's gotta put up with is the people scraping for algae.

  • Leonard French had a good video about how hopeless these meetings are, breaking it down from a counsel perspective. Iran brought shoes of Iran school children to the peace talks, JD brought arrogance and threats. It's always been doomed when you've got one side demanding answers for the crimes done to their people and the other talking about money and their capability to drop more bombs...   • It's the only pill I couldn't take. I ended up getting vancomyacin instead, which is a lot more expensive. It felt ridiculous, but when you throw up after taking it you don't really think it'll go better the second time.

  • Probably the main reason for not having high value currency in the US is because a CTR would be triggered simply for having one. It would sorta make more sense to put tracking chips on them all than to individually log every transaction ever using one.

    Smaller bills let you avoid the treasury department's checks and balances on potential criminal activity much easier.

  • The judge who sentenced them this way has one of the highest rate of overturning in the country and has long been used in order to rule on stuff that's not even his jurisdiction because he always rules with the Republican interests. Turns out when judges are the ones who are supposed to say, "no jurisdiction" they could theoretically just not say that... It will be overturned for a different sentence, but there's something to be said that judges with purely ideological leanings getting consistently admonished from higher courts for dogshit opinions probably shouldn't be allowed to remain being judges without consequences.

  • I think they know the republican base is a dry sponge allowing all manner of corruption and debauchery, but that it can only absorb so fast. Trump is so craven, greedy, and capricious that he's unaccepting of any limitation, even if their standards are already so pervasive in their decline.

  • It's kinda funny how paper thin he is to everyone who's ever read one of his lawsuits and how it went down. Trump speaks confidently in the public square but becomes a meak little mouse in court and still gets thrown out. He's never once, in his entire 80 years, provided more evidence in court than anything he had while speaking on a stage, unless maybe that evidence was subpoenaed away from him and it destroyed his case.
