If full time Walmart employees need government assistance programs to afford food and pay their rent, is it not Walmart who is leaning on government assistance?

  • I think it largely depends on the hobby and how general you want to be about it. I was talking with my wife about this a few years ago and we came to the conclusion that I had a lot of examples of my dad finding solutions to obstacles on his own to where I feel like I can solve almost any issue solo, it's just a matter of how much time and resources do I have to give. Her upbringing was that a service had to be called and a temporary solution put in place. The temporary solution worked but was miserable in the meantime. Also she wasn't part of the temp or permanent solution whereas I was "holding the flashlight".

    It's also interesting because my sister experienced the same examples as me, but because I was here and willing she kinda just lets me be dad in fixing situations now. I think there's an eagerness that men bring with often misguided confidence until they do it enough to get good and my wife would say she wants something to be easy from the beginning before she'll confidently take on the task without me. This is going to be very different couple to couple though, since I can recall a lot of men who act helpless about problems within my ability to control. Often their wives take on that role instead and they seek women who do that sorta stuff because it's a great team dynamic.

    I like the idea of reincarnation, but maybe it's my antitheist limited brain, transitioning to a creature with vastly different intelligence or central nervous system seems like the me I am still ceases to exist. Same vibes doesn't even really check out when folks with brain ailments go through massive personality changes and I wouldn't ever expect someone to "maintain their vibe" through that change.

  • Your instance rules apply to you, so .ml, as do the instance rules of the community you're posting on, so lemmy.world, and finally the individual community rules also apply. If you do not follow rules of third party instances it's possible you will be banned from those instances, but if you're okay with .ml and .world at the same time then I doubt you'd stumble upon many other issues outside of state censorship maybe as someone mentioned for Chinese instances.

  • It's the same thing that keeps terrible lawyers from getting disbarred. Webs and webs of jurisdictional citations and rules that don't apply to every court. Even among fed courts there's almost no translation from wrongdoing in one to another unless it's both egregious and makes the mainstream news, not just legal news.

  • I see no evidence of bribes, but you ar3 obviously right about personal agendas. These agendas are why the appointees recommended by Bernie like Lisa Khan were able to inact substantial beneficial changes and Biden was able to take credit for it, but unsurprisingly often did not. Both because mushy brain and never having known that's what his people were doing. His attention was available though, as evidenced by his behavior around Israel and Gaza, it just wasn't a good thing to have when you're trying to achieve positive change.

    You are incorrect about barring them all. Many were very good nominees. I agree about Blinken and Garland though, fuck them both.

  • I think the majority of prisoners who haven't touched grass for years are more informed than this woman, and many of them will have lost their right to vote. At what point do we require basic observation of reality to be reintroduced to society? They should have to visit a judge and explain why they're qualified to vote again just like ex convicts do.

    There is no version of events based in reality that makes this old fuck not a massive narcissistic loser, 2/3 of what he's whining about. He's not worse, but he damn sure ain't the guy we should have entrusted to fix the problem.
