All aboard the LainTrain - We all love Lain!

  • We don't have data caps which is the most important thing.

  • I don't have the storage capacity required personally

  • I imagine we will be saying goodbye to many such things soon, in the extreme maybe yhe entire idea of a global internet and many open projects like Wikipedia, I can't see how they can coexist with our world now without being shut down or subverted into evil, might as well go out on their own terms.

I do hope a copy exists somewhere, perhaps waiting for a brighter day. Maybe that's naive, but maybe truth and knowledge will become a desirable thing again one day.

  • My life is on a bunch of HDDs dug out of failed laptops with SMART errors some of which have already failed in the past, they are duct taped together and shoved inside a drive cage they don't fit in.

  • OpenVPN

  • My best friend is still on 15Mb/s in central London 💀

I just moved to a new place with full fiber optic and it's the first place I lived in where that's a thing.

  • Lmao

  • None of those have much real impact outside internet noise compared to people seeing their bank accounts drain.

I've been leaving corpo shit behind for years as a personal boycott, but even I found it much easier to invest time and effort moving off paid services than free ones because of a perceived material benefit beyond smug self-satisfaction.

  • Meow meow purr purr (in kittytongue this means I hope that fella touches grass and finds peace)

  • Thanks!

  • What is an "Immich external library"? I'm a user of Immich but not sure what that means.

  • Lmaooo Biden started this so they kissed trump's ass and now trump is doing it too. Can't even suck up to a fascist right nevermind make anything of any use to anyone. And did they really think all the years of passive progressiveness and the vomit inducing corpo memphis queer art would be forgiven by the cheeto man himself?

  • You need a strong and agile state. This dysfunction often stems from complexities introduced by corporate interests during the legislative process.

  • Every time Netflix raises prices their subscriber numbers jump. There are people out there who pay for Netflix with ads.

  • Nah I drop like a rock as long as I've not had more than 4 cups of coffee or 140mg elvanse and I don't keep vaping in bed apart from a few good night puffs.

I do sometimes get insomnia from being understimulated though so I usually need a YT video on while I fall asleep to keep my own thoughts about random projects and other bs out of my head.

  • Yes. Get used to it, we live in hell, black comedy is just about all we have left to bring some levity to the situation.

  • In my country blue is conservatives... But I agree with the sentiment! It worked for California, it can work for your whole country, let the Dems stop fearing they'll lose elections, give them comfortable margins and then massively support progressives who can bring in the good stuff, they won't have a chance if the party core thinks the very future of elections is on the line, but if they think they'll likely win anyway, you might just be able to push through a progressive candidate and end the Neoliberal decay.

  • The same way they justify cutting benefits for the disabled to balance budgets instead of putting taxes on the rich or just not giving them bailouts, they will justify cutting power to you before a data centre that's 10 corporate AIs all fighting each other, unless we as a people stand up and actually demand change.

  • Preach.

    Information wants to be free.
