  • Right, see how this didnt change your opinion and the magical third person inspired by our conversation would come away with what from this?

Talking to people has impact. Imagining you are talking to imaginary people when you talk to someone else, is not that. But sure. I am probably insane. It doesnt seem like there is a single sane person on the planet looking at our environment. And me treating each interaction as its own is somehow so much worse than having an imaginary friend to comfort your ego.

To busy trying to find how to defend your position you won't even look at it critically.

  • Imagining their existence without proof is though. Teaching people is different then screaming into a black box and relying on faith that it did.

And here we are back at the emotional response overpowering the logical one. If you want to teach actually do it than hoping you are passively doing it.

  • No its related In that, I dont believe the lurkers are appreciating it like you think they are. And that logical responses are often still beaten by emotional forces. And, getting the high of watching a "nerd" get dunked on is likely more of not all of the counter arguments received perspective when commenting against the perceived right take of a community.

If you are commenting, you are doing it for yourself. Inventing an imaginary person that is receiving your argument other than the person you are talking to is silly and delusional in the truest sense of that word.

  • Sure, it is the internet and not people's personal finances imploding. Its why we definitely didnt see pushes like this in any other time before the internet. Nope not ever. It's by posting to the internet that changes things.

  • Ew. Using the 3/5s compromise even in a comment section is pretty gross.

  • LOL as if. Literally I will see people with logical responses getting ripped apart because the person they are arguing with just sounds more right and or it fits what people wanted to hear in that specific echo chamber.

Say something cause you want to say it, not cause you are giving yourself points on an invisible scoreboard for people that might not exist.

  • I think debating for fun has killed our ability to communicate as a species. Pushback becomes an ignorable stress since it comes with no real consequence. And it makes every conversation an chance to argue your point as if it must be a part of your identity to be protected at all cost.

I really dislike angry conversation without purpose.

  • I thought my depression was getting the better of me for lie 8 months and it ended up just being anemia from whip worms. Honestly I would straight up expect taking an antiparasitic would make a lot of people feel better without them and I assume salt of the earth types have them even more than I do.

  • I was thinking its more like final destination and death doesnt like being cheated so now its going on wacky hijinks to kill the other Republicans until they let it go back to its original course and kill The Turtle

  • The UK has an entire holiday based around burning an effigy of a person you hate... I think we should be able to say we enjoy that he is dead to no longer hurt the living.

  • Oh no no no. Its just that the safe floor to always have a consistent minimum revenue source, is to focus on the addicts. You have to have a method for the addict to spend and stay with you. Maybe they also then work on a side project of something bland and "broad market appealing" to see if you can't scrape enough money from around the whole world to make a good chunk of change. But you always know that what the real purpose is, keep the addicts and see if you can optimize to either take more from them or get more addicts.

    Its just safe and easy.

People will pay, though they sure have less to try and spend outside their addictions than before. Thats just also happening.

  • Imagine all of your comments having the same amount of upvotes immediately like as if you had multiple accounts. But hey using upvotes in Lemmy would also be a hugely childish way to think you won an argument right?

And because I dont care about the updoots that i wont get and just want to make sure you hear it 1 more time. You can absolutely go get fucked as hard as life can.

  • You are disgusting.

  • Come on in. The shit is steaming and our eyes are burning and we got every kind of emotional take in the book.

  • It is ok to ask questions, not dismiss the claims. Blindly believing is not a good place to be in either direction. People shouldn't assume its real or fake but be deciding how to move forward and get what we need despite it.

This thread is full of bad takes, agreed. But I would rather it not get simplified to that when the reverse is happening as well.

  • Gross. So you want to continue the tradition of hating on victims because of a past incident that allows you to think they earned it...

    Really fucking gross.

  • So you see cruelty and decide you should be allowed to dish some out yourself as a little treat to yourself? Yeah that is fucked. I treat people as the individual for their actions and inactions. In this moment and thread, I am responding to you alone and your words that disgust me.

  • What kindness you show. Such empathy. Really makes me believe you care about anyone.

  • And neither does your comment.

I was told that. I was also questioned a lot by lots of people and ignored over and over. Your take isnt helpful like you think it is and won't hear it because you want to think its good for victims.

Comparing people interacting with the story to raping is fucked up. It is not helpful and you silence the conversations that need to happen even if they are uncomfortable.
