Certainly it's not none, but there's a trend where college educated people tend towards leftist ideals purely because they're exposed to more ideas, more people, more things, and that tends to lead to broader acceptance, which is, unfortunately, a polarizing thing. Many right-wing points are grounded in xenophobia, racism and an 'us vs. them' mentality, and it's harder to hold those ideals when folks are put into situations where they have to actually interact with and get to know the people they're "against", rather than them just being faceless boogie men to be feared and hated.
There was an interview with Emma Watson around the live action movie release where she commented along those lines. Something to the effect of, "It's sad in a way when he becomes human. I was just thinking, 'You were quite nice before, actually', you know?"
Some US states already do this. It's mainly unpopular in red states, though, because their 'protect the children' rhetoric ends when it stops being synonymous with harming women.
It is immediately impeachable and criminal, but none of the other impeachable and criminal stuff he's done has gotten him inpeached or criminally charged, so why would this?
The Decemberists have a rock opera called Hazards of Love and in one song, Annan Water, the main character is trying to strike a bargain with a river to allow him passage across it. It includes the line:
Though my mother cries that if I try I sure will drowned be
For the longest time, I would have sworn the lyric was:
Though my mother cries that if I try I sure will drown in pee
Or the entire Spire would be the story the uncles are telling Walt, from their perspective having experienced it in their younger days. Then Walt follows in their footsteps and after he completes the third run, they find The Heart hidden away in the barn cellar, instead of piles of cash, and they all go down to fight it but Jasmine comes to save them from certain death.
Then Walt's mother comes back with a CPS worker and they take him away, and arrest the uncles for child endangerment. Roll credits.
I could have sworn that it also included language that applied the tax if they leave the state, too, but even if that's incorrect, who cares? Let them move. The more states that do something like this, the less places they'll have as "safe havens" and if they move out of the country, cool, again, let them. It sends a clear message: If you won't pay your share, we don't want you here.
Once everyone collectively agrees that billionaires should pay their share, there will be nowhere left for them to run. It has to start somewhere.
It doesn't help that any time a politician changes their opinion on something, the other side jumps on them for it and accuses them of flip-flopping. In reality, changing a view when presented with a compelling argument or new information is a good thing but they use it as ammunition to attack each other, so of course everyone just sticks to their guns no matter what...
If they didn't use AI and instead actively choice to terminate workers with disabilities and medical problems unfairly, that seems almost worse. Like, they're just admitting to discrimination, aren't they?
It's like being accused of exercising poor gun safety leading to someone's death and saying, "I exercise perfect gun safety, I actively chose to shoot them!"
It didn't even make sense as a political move. I'd wager most MAGA folks had never heard of USAID or knew what they did, and it was at least helping the US' reputation on the world stage.
Obviously the real value is the good it was doing all over the world, but for the Trump admin that couldn't care less about that, it still made no sense to axe it.
You're fine, everyone knows what you mean; it's spelled 'canceled'. Other poster was just being a dick presumably because they find the term to be cringey.
Edit: I have been duly informed that 'canceled' is the American spelling while 'cancelled' is the British spelling, so you're even more correct. :)
