Founder of European Graphic Novels, Aug '23 on Lemm.ee. Still going strong, now on PieFed. :D

I prefer to lean friendly & understanding, yet as someone dealing with a terminal disease, I'll admit that irritability can happen fast. Eh, nous faisons ce que nous pouvons. 🙄

  • Nice. I like how you're always improvising like that.

I wonder if the 'carb-loading yet still healthy' thing is possibly based upon Italians' friggen' chronic need to argue everything to death. I've never before met such a peoples, including a branch of my relatives in Firenze, in which everything one could imagine was automatically a major argument.

Then again, there's my brilliant cousine.

  • Italian is harder. Much harder.

I mean, "Italian" is in this weird Twilight Zone to me. Pasta itself is barely above the level of junk food, nutritionally, but seafood, olive oil and vegetables come through like champions to rescue the Italian meals upon various indexes & studies.

I'm thinking we could make a semi-analogy upon fish-tacos/burritos, and my country's ultra-speciality, i.e. ceviche. No wraps needed there of course, provided you can handle the key lime bath. (which of course I can't anymore, haha)

  • I've not blended much since forever, and that's just STOOPID.

    Hopefully we do better, soon...

  • You speak truth, far as I can tell.

  • IIRC, I gathered them from the below site:

    https://jucika.booru.org/

I'll have to take a look-see to judge if they're worthy of posting, though. A lot of them definitely are NOT. 😅

  • My kind of hooman! Then again, deer populations can get wildly out of control, especially when we wipe out so many beavers and their habitat, and by extension wolves (long story, there).

That reminds me, I have more strips that aren't official, yet aren't fan-art, either. Could be interesting to have a look, I guess. Not feeling super-motivated these days upon the FV in general, but it's an option.

  • My local super does something similar, and if I ate chicken more often, that'd definitely be the way I'd do it rather than eating processed stuff. Say what you want about the industry, but those things are pretty impressive bargains, and rotisserie chicken smells great IMO.

  • Cold rotisserie chicken from the deli

I... I think I need to sit down. oO

  • That seems to be the only thing you are considering

No, I am merely constraining myself to known information. I don't make assumptions about a person's 'goodness' based on merely political leanings, public statements and that sort of thing.

If I don't know for sure then I'm not going to call someone a "piece of shit" over something that might have triggered me.

  • I don't know remotely enough about what Maher is like behind closed doors to say for sure, but there was a time when he was essentially the most progressive mainstream comic in the States. By a wide margin.

Not unlike Joe Rogan to an extent. Once a solid standup comic and interesting interviewer who seemed to get wrecked by fame and money, or something like that.

  • You can hang on to your opinion all you want, but what I said isn't wrong, and I'm pretty sure the known metrics support all that.

  • He was brilliant at his best.

One of the world's top comics, with plenty of specials and his own shows. If there was some kind of critics' roundtable on comedians, I'm pretty sure he'd be rated at or near the top for years, now.

    Hence my disappointment.

  • Huh. I'm certainly not as well-traveled as some, so... right on?

  • I just saw below that this is a new clip. Maybe he immatured instead.

    Exactly.

He was a smart, funny, excellent comedian for like 10yrs, and then seemingly he devolved to this bullshit shock material. Wtf...?

  • I mean... comparatively empty?

AFAIK there are still many millions of people living there, despite whatever struggles are mentioned.

    No..?

  • Abs - a - fooking - lutely, if you know his earlier material.

Dude had been arguably the funniest comic on earth for ~10yrs, and then this bullshit against women.

  • Damn, that's disappointing.

Jim is so good when he's taking on guns, idiot politics, crazy stories, and all that... I'm seriously baffled why he'd shift to women as a punching bag.

You mentioned Maher, another comic I used to love, and I can't help feel you're right on the button with that analogy. It's like he came out hitting home runs, and then fell in love with the idea that he automatically had prescient things to say about society.

    Something like that, anyway.
