  • Thanks for all the info. The reason I didn't want to do a clean install wasnt because I didn't want to back things up. I just knew I would forget game saves or have program settings revert to default or whatever and spend the next couple weeks slowly running into small issues with my setup.

  • Isn't that the guy that made a bezos face boat?

  • ...I'm not a vegan but wow. Cattle live a whole life of horror. Pretending that eating meat is more moral than than eating plants because they suffer less is plain deliusion.

  • Is it as much fun as I'm imagining?

  • Electricity and magnetism got me to change my major from physics to mechanical engineering. I thought I loved physics. Turns out when it's a bunch of pixie bullshit that I can't feel or see, I don't like it so much. Vibrations is the E&M of Newtonian mechanics though. Had to take that one twice.

  • Same with Chicago CTA. Not sure if they still do but I've definitely seen Mullvad ads on CTA.

  • That's awesome! My parents weren't very supportive when I wanted to do my own maintenance in high school. My first breakdown was a bad throw-out-bearing that grenaded and took out the clutch. With no experience, I was determined to do the job myself. I towed the car back to our house, jacked it up (with the one in the trunk), put it on cinder blocks (didn't have jack stands)...and immediately gave up at the first rusty exhaust bolt.

I later did a bunch of car work in and after college while getting my mechanical engineering degree. This skill was super useful so that I could own older cars that were cheaper to buy but had some issues. I could fix them and save money.

There's something meditative about being under a car. The whole world disappears and your only problem is this one stupid fastener. It's immensely satisfying to finish a job and the car just works again.

Soon your kid will be noticing how a disturbing amount of parked cars are missing a lug nut. He'll be the one to inform his friend that weird noise in their car is easily fixed but could cause big problems if not addressed. The lube tech will no longer be able to upsell him on some bullshit that his car doesn't need.

    Btw how old is he?

  • This is why I use keepass and sync thing for my setup

  • That's all fine until you actually need the site. If it's your bank, payment portal for your new apartment, scheduling page for your doctor, etc. Not every site is optional.

  • Much like every culture war issue the right grabs onto: there's no logical basis for it. It became an in-group thing to signal to others that you're "one of the good ones". Sane people pointed out how bad it was which only made ivermectin more entrenched as THE healthy thing like crystals, red light therapy, essential oils, basically anything not backed up by a healthcare expert.

  • You can not evolve out of a clade. Any way to group dinosaurs must include all of their descendants.

  • What about a GameCube controller? Still can't use that on Linux (at least I haven't figured it out).

  • Disclaimer: not qualified to talk about this with any degree of authority.

I thought species were most commonly defined as naturally producing viable offspring. Animals that can produce fertile offspring but only in captivity were lumped in with mules and other hybrids.

I'm now reiterating the disclaimer that I shouldn't even be allowed to speak on a public forum about this subject. It's amazing I haven't been arrested.

  • Do they do that naturally?

  • A lot of cool projects on here. I'm not actually a programmer so everything I've done is little more than a script. In high school, I taught myself python by solving project euler problems. Many of them involved prime numbers so I got increasingly good at making prime number generators. I was really proud of getting it down to just a couple lines of elegant simplicity.

  • Opensource @programming.dev

Is there any OS, local, tournament bracket generator?
