  • It's sad I never realized how many things have microphones in my room. I wondered all the different ways advertisers can use audio for targeted ads the other day and came across an article recently talking about how the CIA was able to tap into Smart Samsung TVs and spoof the speaker light to not be on. Its a fucking scary world we live in.

Just in my peripheral we have smart TV with mic in the remote, laptop with mic, phone with mic, PS5 Controller with mic, Switch 2 with one and an IR Camera in both controllers, overear Headphones and ear pods both have mics, PC Webcam has one, tablet has one, and smartwatch has one. Like bruh.

  • Because the GOP likes to run Republicans as Democrats, I absolutely judge a book by its cover. He has a history of controversy aside from the Nazi tattoo. If Platner wins, I wanna revisit this comment in a few years to see if another Fetterman was born.

  • Yep same here, used an extension to read my Spotify library and turn them into youtube .mp3's, then went in and redownloaded any that got messed up or were live versions not the album song, and now I just add songs using NewPipe as they come up!

  • They also go to college, and most importantly, finish.

  • But also beware as notepad++ has had a security breach recently.

  • Which I'm pretty sure I paid for too, its Sync for Lemmy.

  • I was born in the early 90s, got non-dial up home internet access in 2003, and never ever, in the history of my time being on the internet. I have never ever, never not even once clicked on an ad on purpose. Like the Yahtzee ad thats showing right above your comment, I will never click this shit and follow it all the way up to giving my credit card info over. Why do we even have these nowadays, aside from tracking you?

  • I would 100% listen to a JB Smoove Radio station if it was exactly like his GTA V one lmao.

  • It's been in planning for awhile, but mostly the wait is for getting more workplaces in the US unionized to participate. Imo, we would need to convince key industries that could actually shut down the United States, it would be like: airline pilots/stewardesses, truck drivers, railroad workers, teachers, natural gas/electric workers, and health care workers. I don't know how progress is going, but even just 3 of those groups would be enough to cause a halt in what's, best case scenario, a more fragile administration.

  • Supposedly theres a general mass strike planned for 2028. I'll be participating as a UAW member.

  • Logged into my reddit account after 2 years. Every FUCKING comment I scrambled and had deleted on my 2nd account was unscrambled and restored. Meaning they got away with using my fucking comments. I'm so GODDAMN FUCKING MAD.

  • A paper was written by a lab that received guidance and likely funding from the company whose product it was researching. Paper was published and despite red flags, it was allowed to influence 1000+ papers before it was finally redacted. Even though a correction has been made, Monsanto was still allowed to befuddle the water for so long.

ELI5: Imagine the class was asked to make a drawing of an apple, but one student that is quick and sneaky, draws an orange. The other students still learning about fruits, copy that students drawing of an orange. The teacher discovers a mistake was made, but by the time things get figured out, its too late, the assignments over and the paintings can't be undone. All that time spent on oranges.

  • I'm a Biologist, years ago our lab got federal funding to research glyphosates potential as a neurotoxin and its capabilities to be used as a weapon. The DoD was concerned enough about this chemical that they poured the most funding I've ever seen at my university into a project.

  • Used to be a Catholic, have to say this one as well. Used to get in trouble for asking too many questions.

  • The only times I've ever seen mental illness weaponized against someone is when they're running for office and all of a sudden HIPPA doesn't exist anymore and if Depression pops up. Hoh boy.

  • Maybe this is the way, we looked at ancient human DNA, maybe there should be a public domain aspect to it. Sequence today, study after XX years.
