Indigenous Canadian from northern Ontario. Believe in equality, Indigenous rights, minority rights, LGBTQ+, women's rights and do not support war of any kind.

    Plausible deniability .... generally doing things and pretending that you have no knowledge or awareness of what happened so its not your fault and you have no responsibility

    It's modern day politics and race baiting these days .... you say one thing to be an absolute turd and when you get called on it all, you deny everything, redirect, and ignore everything ... your malicious self keeps hiding behind the mask of stupidity to keep doing whatever it is you want to say or do all the time ... then do it again and again until your behaviour is so normalized that it's no longer seen as malicious or stupid ... it's just normal now.

  • I remember reading about something that described this thought in a Star Wars fan site once. The stories that show human characters or human like characters everywhere, aren't really human at all ... they are more like place holders for exotic space alien beings that we can't even imagine.

    I'd like to think that of Star Trek as well. The stories are just stories being shown for our convenience because the aliens they would encounter would be so strange and foreign to us that we wouldn't be able to believe it, let alone understand it

  • Same here .... all I do is read most of the time ... I'm only interested in reading about 2,000 words which shouldn't take any data .... yet Firefox will struggle under the weight of advertising, adblock, scripts, background links, preloading and all kinds of stupidity that I will not and refuse to use.

  • I ride motorcycle and I love that one. I have an adapter for the phone so I can keep the phone screen in front of me while I ride. I just never use it because I don't want to operate a device while I'm on a bike, no matter how sophisticated you can make it.

    I just have it on in case of emergency.

    But I can go for long quiet rides in the country side where nothing is happening and no one will ever call.

    As soon as I'm in traffic, an intersection or somewhere busy where I need full attention .... someone decides to call and I can see my screen light up.

  • My wife has a sixth sense of knowing when I'm on the toilet.

    I can quietly go about my day, no one ever calls or wants me .... enter the toilet, pull my pants down, in the process of doing my business and the phone rings. Not every time I go to the toilet ... but just about every time she calls, I'm on the toilet. It's uncanny.

    Then she gets mad at me for not answering right away or ignoring the call. I always call her back and ask her how she knows when I'm on the toilet.

  • I know you were making a joke about everything .... but your reminder and note about the song Runaway Train by Soul Asylum was just the right thing I needed right now. I love that song and its always a reminder of just how lucky I've been in my life. I'm middle aged now and I've built some sort of life for myself ... I have enough, I've done lots and I've yet to do more ... if circumstances hadn't have turned out when I was lot younger (and trust me, I had plenty of opportunities to ruin my life early on), I would have ended up in similar lost stories as some dumb kid that disappeared into nothing never to be heard from again.

    So whatever, your meaning to post your comment and that link ... I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It's a subtle little nudge in my life that I needed today.
