  • Having this info because of legitimate needs to provide a service and a third party processing it with AI without explicit consent for their benefit is a huge difference.

  • Of course I am referring to info my teammates would know too. Are you inferring that it's fine that big corporations are profiling you based on what you're chatting with your friends about?

  • To all the people in this thread hyping Linux. Please remember that those screenshots capture you as well if you play with windows users. If this becomes a staple and you refuse to be AI fodder, then multiplayer is pretty much dead to you.

  • In theory this is awesome. Humans aren't built for menial tasks. All repetitive monotonous tasks should be automated. However, this doesn't fit our current economic system. Obviously all automation needs to be taxed, so that we don't have to live this paradox where each technological advancement is a risk to our livelihood.

  • And the 3rd guy from the lefton the 2nd frame couldn't deal with the beard

  • I use Track & Graph from F-Droid for a similar purpose. I noticed pretty quickly that the data I want to track just isn't generic enough to find a tailored app for it. So I setup several reminders through the app to enter the various measurements at set points in time each day and get a nice graph to dislay it.

  • Now more than ever people will have to choose between privacy and comfort. And not to be a dick, but now more than ever, people choosing comfort are fucking over people who choose privacy.

  • Call me a conspiracy nut job , but I honestly think we live in a new age where it's the other way around. Megacorps are creating a situation where governments are set up to fail and then swoop in to save the day "alien earth" style, so everyone can be forced into lifetime indentured service.

  • While I full heartily agree with you, I'm pessimistic you will ever reach enough people with these alternatives. Even on privacy forums you hear people fervently defending how banking apps are mandatory. Those will never run on anything that isn't locked down. The eID proposal for the EU is also dependent on Android and iOS.

  • At the least you would know it's happening and that you've been compromised. A hoster might also be inclined to be a lot more accommodating than you are. And mass information requests do happen. You wouldn't even be targeted if you host locally. The privacy advantages are numerous

  • Allegiance to a country is such a nonsensical concept anyway. What is inferred is an allegiance to a government. A government is delimited by time, so in theory you should need to reaffirm your allegiance each voting cycle. Furthermore, what does allegiance encompass? I do not know of a single government I would align myself so deeply with, that I would go to war for it for example. That doesn't mean I dont like my country.

  • Serious question. With inflation absolutely exploding everywhere, stock market being what you just described here, and property ownership being virtually impossible due to big corpos gulping everything up: how is anyone supposed to prevent their money from melting away nowadays?

  • In before EU genocides all starlings because you can't put backdoors in them to scan for CSAM.

  • Took me a second too. Look at what the bird is writing with.

  • Financial issues among the general populace due to consolidation of wealth > oligarchs create propaganda that brown people are to blame > uneducated masses vote for authoritarians with empty promises
