  • I read a book on rock climbing years ago that said the reason big cats in captivity were so toned was because they are constantly tensing their muscles. It's a display of dominance over other cats in the enclosure. The point being that rock climbing even though it doesn't provide cardiovascular exercise will tone the muscles.
