  • Not gonna happen!

  • I will say I had 1 time i needed it. It was my Samsung Odessey monitor. It supports freesync but I noticed when it was on there would be a slight flicker. Dealt with it for probably 2 years before looking into it. Low and behold online comments all said firmware fixed it. It worked, fixed it and now it's been fantastic ever since. One of the only times an update on a screen did something amazing. It's not the norm but the excception.

  • So we pay them to do this to us? I stopped putting tv's on the internet once I realized it offered me nothing useful. Firmware is about it and if that's the case I'll either usb it or put it on the internet for 5 min to do the update. Even then Samsung sucks so much with firmware the release notes for every single update are "bug fixes and improvements"... thanks Samsung.

If I am forced to put it online or it comes up with a way to phone home on its own, I am done buying those kinds of tv's, and I'm sure some other brand will offer one that doesn't, even if it isn't the best one to buy.

  • Were I live, it updates at least once a month and i think its on purpose. If you want a static IP, you gotta buy the business plan. I do host stuff so instead of spending the extra $200 or so a month for that plan I just use DDNS with my domain and setup a small app that the domain provider gives which periodically checks your public IP and changes it where your DNS settings are hosted.

  • You would think this is a perfect opportunity to offer anyone willing to move to the US an agreement were no tarrifs are applied to the building materials of the factory or business being built as long as it meets certain requirements. Of course, that will never happen.

  • My entire life, i have yet to sit on a toilet that's not my own or a hotel. Restrooms are strictly pee zones.

  • Dammm, the best part is everyone speculated that the price it's at now was to predict and get ahead of tarrif pricing by already setting it higher. The fact that it's not is scary.

  • Not me, but my friend recently got approved for Dupixent and although he hates that he needs to even do this he says it's night and day from before. Basically lived his entire life with not being able to breath. He got surgery, and it helped for a bit, but over time it came back. He says just being able to breathe normal is worth it.

  • I was a boost reddit guy and when they took them down Iand I came here i don't even remember what I used before boost released the lemmy app. I think it's perfect.

  • Oh boy, I have wanted to purchase Roon server for probably 10 years now but haven't pulled the trigger. I haven't really looked at it in a while either. I now wonder how much it's changed since. Wow, it's $829 for a lifetime now! I wanna say it was like $400 when I first wanted it. I knew i should have!

I used to use Subsonic, then it was abandoned and felt like I needed something better. I ended up on a fork of it called Navidrome which is pretty impressive and are doing some great work improving things lately like adding in more tags to the original subsonic API to do more. The best app Symfonium also came out only a few years ago and is incredible now. It offers soooo much it's kind of crazy. It also opted to make use of the new API, which allows more as well. One day I'll move to Roon.

  • I'm so confused. They really had no care in the world it seemed. They really thought it was ok to go somewhere while she had an expired visa and before getting a green card since they just married? Your honeymoon could have waited, idk why anyone would have taken that risk... I don't know how long it takes after marriage, but even if it took a year, then that's how long I'm keeping low.

  • Just brought a used car 2 months ago to replace my 18 year old car. It died the other day and got the call today that the engine is done... I am absolutely this person right now.

  • Looks like a Nintendo DS a bit.

  • One can only hope this deal falls through just like the 2 others recently.

  • Considering i get premium Peacock for like $6 a month after discounts I agree. I get the live channel plus a ton of other stuff and other pre-made channels to watch. Some sports as well plus the Olympics when they are relevant. Asking $8 just to remove some ads sounds awful. I will stick to using Firefox on mobile and pc with ublock origin which removes all ads.

  • IT Networking in Healthcare. Used to be administration side but recently moved to networking a year ago. Had the same job now for 19 years and it was my first job out of tech school where I worked help desk for the first 5 years. Used to do a lot on the telecom side but now it's mostly setup firewalls, program switches, and know cloud services to setup virtual networks. I know I am underpaid at 87k, I am being promised a raise soon with hopes of getting to 95-100k but even that is below what I should be around. I may have a new opportunity later this year which looks to be around 110-120k if I can pull it off. I want to move on not only because the pay but also because going 19 years at a place that's 24/7 with bare minimum holidays takes its toll on you since your basically on call all the time. Outside that the job it's self is fine and challenging at times.

  • I'm good. I spend less than $20 a month on 3 services, and it's all I need. Youtube is not even one of them. Dropped the app, use it directly in Firefox on my phone with ublock origin, and I get no ads which would be the only benefit I would want it for. I still source all my music and keep locally and setup my own music server which is accessible anywhere. Same goes for TV and shows, not the streaming sites but an actual local library. It's been working for about 10 years now so I have no reason to change.
