    I think they're just trying to kill more women. Similarly to how they're doing everything they can to encourage trans people and non whites to die more frequently. We're in the pre-holocaust phase.

    Targeting tylenol further endangers women during pregnancy - one of the riskiest times for a woman's health. The way they rolled out their abortion ban with so much ambiguity also maximizes the chance of women dying.

  • New and arational beliefs seem to always proliferate at times at times of widespread cultural strain, especially when empires are starting to fall apart. Iconoclasm, the fists of righteous harmony and taiping christianity are the first examples I can think of.

    I suspect it's (at least partly) an inevitable way that societies react to stress or change.

  • Ah, could be. There's non-homogenized milk that we get sometimes here but it's nowhere as good as I remember that UK milk being. Maybe it's just distant childhood memories being incorrect.

  • Raw milk is way tastier though. The clearest memory I have from visiting the UK at 9 y/o was the milk from the milk rounds being unreasonably delicious. Like so much better i wasn't sure it was milk.

    It's obviously not the right choice to fulfill the nations milk needs, that's a public health disaster. But I wish it was available in limited, risk-minimized contexts like in most of Europe.

    According to a Princeton study from like a decade ago no major public policy has reflected public opinion since the end of the civil rights era.

    If we were a representative democracy then the will of the demos would be reflected in the government and its decisions. But it's just not.

    In practice the US has been an oligarchy for at least half a century. I suspect it always has been just with brief interludes when people power breaks through like the civil rights era and the new deal.

  • There's a metal identification tag that goes with the body the entire time it's in the funeral home/crematorium, according to my partner who works at one. It gets taped to the outside of the urn.

    That's not foolproof though, the wrong ashes getting released to someone is rare but is usually easy to spot afterwards.

    There's no way for you to 100% guarantee that the ashes are your loved one, except that there's no strong benefit to a crematorium doing that and heads would roll if they did.

    There have been scandals where pets were cremated in bulk then the combined ashes divvied out, but not humans.
