  • It’s pretty good as long as you don’t absolutely require the latest versions of everything. If an older version gets the job done and frequent updates annoy you, look no further.

  • About that laptop, I’ve had a HTPC for many years, and I’ve used Fedora for most of them. Eventually, I got tired of the frequent updates and the fact that the update GUI stopped working. I kept on updating through the terminal for many years, but I got tired of that as well. Nowadays, it’s running Debian, and I haven’t noticed any downsides so far. I think it’s a good distro for media consumption.

  • Sounds very cyberpunk.

Did you think you can just look at the sky, feel the wind on your hair, or experience the rain on your face? Open up that wallet, because none of that is free, especially the rain. Maximum capitalism…

  • Some times I wonder if some cosmic aliens had a debate about how many collisions one language can have. One of them probably said: “Hold my beer. Give me a planet and 10 million years. I’ll prove you wrong.”

All that stuff about pyramids being built by aliens was probably just that one alien trying to win a bet by messing around with earth. Maybe Japanese was the end result of that bet.

  • Or free rain. English is such a wonderful language isn’t it.

  • Just wait until someone remembers what breccia looks like.

  • Those particles are exactly the kind of exception I was looking for. Tiny things that last a long time. The opposite kind of exceptions are probably impossible since making large things takes a lot of time. You would need to have something the size of a galaxy that lasts from Monday evening to Thursday morning.

  • Funnily enough, there was a user on Lemmy who literally did that. Every post contained a signature like that. Haven’t seen that line in a while though. I guess they just gave up or stopped posting on Lemmy.

  • DNT doesn’t really work. That’s why Firefox removed that feature.

  • I’m surprised how many people use subscribed+scaled. I’ve been doing that as soon as the scaled feature was added.

  • It’s definitely a volume thing. With niche interest, you’ll bump into this limitation quite frequently.

  • I’ve heard of mayo pizza before. I recall the was a restaurant that did that. Never tried it myself though.

  • Remember when people were talking about smart watches listening to you all the time? Nobody worries about that anymore. Instead, pretty much everyone wears a smart watch of some sort. My guess is, the same will happen with smart glasses eventually.

  • Or maybe Suraj is working for an AI company? It’s not immediately apparent.

  • Because Lemmy.

This is the corner of the internet where you’ll find people who hate AI with a burning passion. Apparently, some of them were scrolling local or all, and stumbled upon your post. Some people just downvote without even checking which community the post is in.

  • Who needs a space elevator when you might as well use the same tech to beat bridge records.

  • Just build the bridge on the moon instead. The lower gravity really helps with the main span.

  • Alternatively, you could always use the unstoppable plug and immovable socket, AKA the paradoxical connector.
