  • No.

  • I understand your logic but I hate it (and am trying not to hate you).

    RESIST

  • It's also a snowball effect where they compete to escape the accusation of using ChatGPT or being "unc" or "boomer," self-policing to ensure everyone writes like garbage.

I was once told "I write like someone who thinks they are good at writing." That was met with rounds of applause by the people who can't (or won't) spell, capitalize, or punctuate anything.

To their credit, communication is a two-way street. If I'm writing such that nobody understands what I'm saying but me, it's not "good writing." But it does feel like we're nose-diving towards Idiocracy and I'm not happy about it.

  • That and all proper English writing gets you accused of using ChatGPT, because ChatGPT was trained on proper English writing.

  • Looks like everyone misread my comment. I guess I'll delete it before the algorithm punishes me further.

  • Fair enough. It feels like a difference in scale and not category, but I acknowledge that's subjective.

  • Not to be rude but isn't this just humble-bragging and a subset of Stage 3?

  • That's exactly how it worked for my agency.

They were dragging new hires in and ordering them to sign away the union without knowing anything about them.

  • Too true, but when you see a kid crying about their spilled ice cream, do you go "Haha, cry harder dipshit!" Ice cream doesn't matter, right?

Or should you just be kind to others as your starting point?

  • $10 says they still think AI is great at counting things.

  • Because they have some meaning (and arguably, value) beyond "a number we choose to be a meme."

The minute enough people knew what 6 7 was, it lost the only value it had: being an inside joke and using it to exclude others not in the know.

  • Serious question:

Have you ever wondered why you enjoy being shitty to other people?

  • Yeah, fair enough. I just didn't want to give them an "it depends" answer.

  • Like the kind you wear in a lab?

No, those are purpose-built to keep airborne contaminants out.

  • Pepper spray, especially fog-applied, is going to get around that.

  • Basically, yeah.

It's a bit easier to know someone doesn't do drugs if you require they hand over keys to the cops for regular surprise inspections and searches of their home, but at what point have we made the fix far worse than the problem?

Similarly, rootkit anticheat gives advanced low-level access to anyone who can crack the anticheat program, all to make it a bit less likely that you'll cheat. It's a bit easier to program than server-side anticheat, but at what cost?

  • old.reddit.com actually stopped working entirely for me today, logged in or not.

The enshittification will continue until every user is gone.

  • You're an internet user.

Don't you know how much CSAM there is on the internet?

    You make me sick.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

When did lemmy.world start clamping down on VPNs?

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

Is there a way to "self-post" on Lemmy like there is on Reddit?
