  • I don't think you can? But, you can use a space and add an equal sign sticker instead

  • Starlink satellites are in low Earth orbit. They could still cause Kessler syndrome, but aren't as much of a concern as higher orbits.

Here are some quotes regarding this from and Aerospace America article

Regarding satellite proliferation, while there are many more satellites, the company responsible for most of them, SpaceX, places its Starlink satellites in a low orbit so they can naturally deorbit relatively soon — within five or six years, per SpaceX — if they fail.

At around 400 kilometers and into the 500-km realm — home to ISS and the SpaceX Starlink satellites among others — atmospheric drag plays a major role. Dead satellites and debris usually slow and burn up in the atmosphere in just a few years. This natural cleansing process accelerates when the sun becomes more active and solar coronal mass ejections strike Earth and cause the atmosphere to swell. “In those altitudes, we can probably do a lot and we will be forgiven,” Linares says.

  • TY for the link! I started scrolling through the index, but with 621 Cogs it got a bit....daunting, I wish it had a 'most popular' or 'sort by most downloaded' option, but I understand why it doesn't.

  • Ironically, the stock Lemmy UI does not, er at least it doesn't for divisions by zero. Using Tesseract, I don't visually see a difference between read and non-read posts, but if I hide read posts it clears out my feed, so it is definitely keeping track.

  • Well hot damn, works for me as well between Alexandrite and Sync for Lemmy!

At this point I just wish there was a way to change the color of read links vs. non read in Alexandrite. Maybe my eyes/monitor aren't good, but it can be hard to tell.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

Is there a Lemmy App/browser client that syncs read status across devices?

  • I know we are all on here because we dislike the kind of algorithms that tik tok, Instagram, and Facebook have, but that is exactly the thing my wife was looking for. When I had her download pixelfed and loops she was like ' I have to search out content and manually follow people like I did with Facebook back in the day?' and she uninstalled.

Algorithms can be addictive and evil, but for some people that's what they're looking for.

  • Oooh, this is a great idea! I'm bald AF now so might be a great way to capitalize on that

What is your Halloween Costume this year?

  • I would definitely get some ideas from the Internet, but verify them with a vet afterwards. If you feel like your current vets advice isn't working don't be afraid to get a second opinion from a different vet (it's what I would do with a human doctor as well).
