But I don't just accept slop. I take the time to polish to get the results I want. It's still my idea and my vision, I just need a bit of help. This allows me to get results fast and fail faster. I can spend weeks in blender in my spare time building what I want, and I still do for some things.
Or maybe the simplest reason, don't expose the mad king to too much public scrutiny. Having trump speak at an event like this is a benefit to Trump, not the NRA. Just as it is a benefit, it is a detriment if his health and mental ability are in question.
How exactly is this unconstitutional? Where in the Constitution do we have a right to privacy? SCOTUS has ruled in past cases that some portions of the Constitution create zones of privacy or protect against government intrusion, BUT they most recently ruled in Dobbs that a woman's medical decisions should not be private.
This might be the most anemic open ended bill I have ever read. On its face, it has no teeth. The most well defined portions of the bill are to make sure that applications have access to age data. Making this look more like a way for corporations to gather data and verify real people as opposed to online personas.
There is zero regulation actually defined and instead they have a 180 day period to define the regulation and a year for it to be contacted and implemented. The bill could pass tomorrow and we still wouldn't know what age verification looks like.
As scary as these efforts are, they are also a bit humorous to me. By and large software exists independently of its creator, especially in the FOSS space. There would be no way to require an individual to install an OS that supported this or even use an updated browser that supported it.
Ultimately, the only way to really enforce any sort of age verification system is to force all content providers to have an age verification step. This presents as OS level, but you have to give people a reason to upgrade in order to implement. If Wikipedia suddenly required some sort of OS based age verification protocol to access its content, it would become a lot harder to avoid.
They are putting this at the OS level, but I think this is a way to back into removing anonymous access to the Internet.
I wonder how much of the down voting stems from people seeing "let me parent my own kids" as being tied to conservative propaganda used to support anti-woke bills in places like Florida.
I think they've been puppeteering him since he first took the oath in 2017. They just guide him to the decisions that they want. There may be a few original ideas, but I doubt many of them are.

My university had an entire /8 block and no real centralized IT. A number of departments ran NAT internally but the default was that every computer was assigned a public IP. This included connecting a laptop to the network in the library or in a dorm room. At some point they did require associating your MAC with a student or staff ID in order to acquire an IP.
There was also a pretty robust collection of drives shared on the network. Some were intentional and slightly nefarious, some were accidental and the people didn't even realize they were sharing.
I have a friend with a Subaru he didn't drive much. Battery kept dieing on him. He determined that with the car of there was a small drain on the battery. Took quite a bit to figure out that the issue was the old 3g connection for starlink. Even though he hadn't ever paid for the service, the car still kept trying to connect to the cell network. With 3g retired, it had nothing to connect to.
I also have a Subaru with a 3g connection I never replaced, but it's a daily driver. From what I can tell on forums, this only became a problem once there was no longer a 3g network. Just curious that even without the subscription the car was connecting to something and now that there is no connection, it will continuously try to connect.
There is a bypass module that can be purchased, because apparently if you just pull the fuse, you lose Bluetooth and the front speakers. You can keep Bluetooth by having an aftermarket headunit which bypasses the manufacturer Bluetooth.
