  • I thought this was a really fascinating video, since Apple Explained is one of the biggest Apple-Stans on youtube. He finally realized that his favorite company is wrought with greed, and was willing enough to make a video about it. The content or his ideas don’t necessarily matter; it’s his revelation that’s intriguing.

  • The Tea app is agnostic. While its purpose and main use case was made for the safety of women in the dating scene, it was inevitably used to spread exaggerated or misleading information about otherwise innocent men. Imagine being a privacy-conscious individual, and breaking up with a toxic woman. She could go on to spread lies about you and even upload pictures of you to the reverse image search/ai. So even if you were doing everything right from a privacy standpoint, you’d still end up in someone’s private database, subjected to ai training, shared with the government, or who knows what. While I do see the purpose of apps like these, they can effectively take away someone’s privacy/dignity without them even knowing about it. Now imagine being a 4channer, someone probably even more privacy-conscious than lemmings, and possibly experiencing mental disorders like paranoid schizophrenia or autism; of course they’re drawn to hacking an app that would destroy their privacy. They are not sane individuals, so this event really was inevitable.

  • You can’t block all of Windows spyware. The best case of action would be to install an alternative operating system like Linux or a BSD-derivative. It’s counter-intuitive to “fuck Microsoft” when you are still using their OS.

  • During Covid, 2020-2021. I was under the weather and bored out of my mind. I spontaneously decided to install Arch Linux, and the rest is history. Installing Arch was invaluable to my learning experience, and taught me a lot about Linux

  • Yes I’m pretty sure that this has been an option. For example when I go to imdb.com and right click on the tab, it prompts me to “add imdb” for search. Many such cases on many different websites. Maybe they changed the term or function.

  • Plasma 6.4: IMO, THE BEST Linux desktop environment right now

  • KDE Plasma has proven to be one of the most customizable desktop environments available. Theming is easily achievable with the versatility of QT, (which is technically on Hyprland but more versatile in a full QT desktop), as well as the versatility of panels that can be moved and modified to whatever you wish for them to be. External plugins or programs like Latte dock, or the Plutonium tile manager further expand on Plasma’s capabilities. Hyprland is also customizable, but almost only through external sources, making Plasma much more accessible and seamless. Of course there are reasons behind this, but each to their own. Feel free to state your own opinions communist@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz, but since this is an IMO post (basically opinion of the OP), I think we’d all appreciate it if you were more civilized and detailed as to why you felt the need to shoot down the OP. Also, maybe research your claims before commenting.

  • A love Hyprland, but KDE Plasma does so many things for you and saves time. If you want to change screen resolution in Hyprland, you need to check the wiki or man. In Plasma, you simply use the settings app. Each environment has its own purpose, and Plasma’s is for general purpose use.

  • As long as they aren’t doing horrible things in the name of religion, then I have the controversial opinion that religion isn’t all bad. Not everyone is an intellectual, therefore some religions can be considered a way to promote and preserve morals. While it’s unknown how his mother used religion, the neckband portrayed in the comic had no regard for his mother’s feelings or beliefs, showcasing the bad side of atheism. In the same way, religion could have similar effects. In the end there needs to be balance, a yin and a yang.
