  • Good rule.

  • hopefully it can migrate to a small non-controversial instance.

    infosec.pub? lemmy.cafe?

    Perhaps even dbzer0?

  • And if downvotes bother you, that’s okay. There are plenty of instances that don’t show it, say lemmy.blahaj.zone.

Also, on some UI’s you can disable it even on instances that show it.

  • Just to save people a rabbithole.

Kagi is pretty cool. But it’s not free. And for most people who don’t have much disposable income it’s not really a justifiable expense to pay for a search engine.

  • Lmao. When I lived in Austria I remember I chilled with a friend and he let me take a couple sips from his Beer.

The next day he asked me to wire him 0.3 euro for half the beer 😭.

I just told him next beer is on me.

  • Well… I don’t live in the US. I live in Europe.

  • this is exactly what talking to basically anyone about your struggles as a disabled person feels like;

“oh but havent you tried yoga” “I think I know some essential oils that could help you” “You need to workout more to make your body strong” (Me who has a mitochondrial/energy production disease 😭) “Trust me if you eat quinoa and supplements vitamins youll be back to health in no time”

Can’t people, just… offer sympathy. Why are they so entrenched with the idea they will know the magical solution to an illness 80 years of research hasn’t found a useful treatment or management strategy for yet. As if I hadn’t spent months in denial trying out bullshit treatments when I first became ill and lost much of my body’s functioning.

  • I think this meme would look less cool if you replaced it with a man, but on I’m board.

  • So if terf was actually radical feminism (it’s not), it would be basically the horseshoe theory where you’re so ”radical” you get back to “traditional” values with a bit of misandry sprinkled in.

  • In the four european countries I’ve lived in as a physically disabled person unable to work, this is exactly how I’ve been treated as well.

  • Adding signature from Nantes

  • Fun fact: Grizzlies and Polar Bears are the same species according to the Biological Species Concept.

Meaning they interbreed in the wild (somewhat rare), and produce viable offspring that can have babies as well.

We’re actually noticing this happening more and more with climate change. As Grizzly populations move further and further north, they’re encountering polar bears more often and are more likely to mate. Some scientists actually think within the next couple centuries due to arctic sea ice pretty much disappearing polar bears will either go extinct, or interbreed with grizzlies so much that there isn’t a “pure” polar bear left. Most likely a mix of both.

  • I’ve never been to southern US, but was way too addicted to geoguessr. So this is my guess. The recently funded public building might imply somewhere with better govt funding like SoCal or Colorado than West Texas.

  • The grass looks arid, and overly manicured, so I would probably guess southern (as in the compass direction, not the cultural region) US. Like west texas, Arizona, New Mexico, SoCal, Colorado or something. The time zones would check out quite well as well. You posted this around 4pm California time. The shadows on the trees probably support that.

The park/ public building concept looks fairly new as well. The trees are young, the infrastructure isn’t crumbling. I’d guess it was built within the last 2 decades?

  • Forumverse makes the most sense but it really doesn’t roll of the tounge.

Hence I prefer Lemmyverse or Threadiverse.

  • They have also caused the ecrevisse à pattes blanches (the native european one) to go near extinct.

  • Exactly. There are endangered birds and amphibians who call my garden home. I do not want cats going in there and killing them for sport.

Get a catio! Don't destroy native wildlife.

  • And actually in some places prarieland is probably more important for conservation.

Ie. plant a couple of native fruit trees for, dig a small perrenial pond and add some rocks so amphibians can feel safe, and sprinkle in seeds for native grasses, especially edible ones and let nature do it’s work.

  • I don’t agree with this particular usecase. Because I’ve personally experienced, people who shun “negativity” meaning they just completely ignore people’s suffering which often adds a devastating layer of invisibility to oppression. But probably hopefully this isn’t your case and it’s more about “doom and gloom” than people’s reality of suffering.

But anyways, I do agree that blocklists are probably a feature that lemmy needs.
