I may have been a kid when I first learned about sudo, and it took me a long time to realize who ever created the command didn't just mispell pseudo. (in my head cannon, pseudo-root. because it was like being root. without being root.)
Human guards would be more effective than the drone at stopping an active shooter; but they won’t stop active shooters from being active in the first place.
Usually, the scheme is remotely stationed pilots at a facility, as long as the internet stays live, at least. One or two teams can cover most the nation.
But yeah.
Also they were “inspired” by Ukrainian drones- the ones that fly in and explode. Nobody is using pepper balls in wartime.
If its not so bad, then why is your literal job to train people how to get through it? If it were easy to ignore, then people wouldn't need training, no?
It’s not a fun experience, but again it will not stop a determined aggressor. It will deter someone who isn’t all that invested in whatever, but it won’t physically stop them.
The training is literally just exposure training- we have them hit each other with OC spray and then the person who got sprayed gets to work through cuffing the other up. (They trade off.) the reason for this is two things-
if you use OC or any other kind of spray, you will be exposed.
it teaches you that *it isn’t that bad and you can still function.
By temporarily blinding them and basically lighting their face on fire, obviously
Incorrect. It doesn’t technically blind anyone. OC is a chemical agent that triggers thermal receptors to create a burning sensations. When it gets in the eye, the body responds by flushing the eye- making you cry.
Again this is not something that incapacitates- any one who’s been exposed can and will remain a threat, same as anyone who is on something or just angry enough or desperate enough.
This is why no cop in the world engages someone with lethal weapons with mace.
All pepper spray is, is an irritant. I personally train people on a monthly basis to work through it. I’ve personally seen people- including teenage kids- angry enough, or on something, or having just been exposed enough- that it does nothing.
Pepper spray isn’t a restraint, or an incapacitant. Its sole use is in pissing people off, breaking up drunken crowds, or harassing protestors.
Additionally, pepper spray is fundamentally designed to spread and contaminate everything in the vicinity- including those kids you care sooo much about.
You know what does stop gun violence? Gun control and mental health programs.
First. that passage in John 7 is almost certainly an insert from later traditions- it's not included in the earliest manuscripts of the gospels of john, nor is it commented on by early church fathers who were talking about the gospel. So it probably didn't happen.
Secondly, even if it did, jesus would not have had the legal authority to condemn her. She (and the 2 witnesses) was to be brought to the temple priests for judgement.
Honestly, the more liberal you go as a Christian, the more you have to struggle with cognitive dissonance.
I doubt very much that a historical Jesus would have been cool with lgbtq, women that weren’t property, and being told that slavery is uncool.
First off, despite what a lot of people claim, Jesus was a fundamentalist of sorts pushing to return to the strict laws of Moses. He wasn’t progressive, and that includes laws like stoning women for not crying out as they’re raped. But also, if the girl weren’t betrothed she’d be forced to marry her rapist and had no chance to leave them. All the rapist would be punished with is paying for the goods- “you break it you buy it” mentality.
Second off, he was running around the ass end of the boondocks faking miracles and grifting the ever living shit out id them. He’s as big a con artist as Trump.
All this to say, when you have to start trimming the book of all the awful shit, you eventually start to look at the Swiss cheese of paper and go “why should I?” (And we can add the early church fathers for the Catholics)
What he's really saying is that they're not paying him a big enough cut.
