"Section 224 would require the US defence secretary to appoint an “executive agent”: a single official to coordinate military cooperation between the US and Israel."
I could see the next congress in November still keeping these provisions if we don't get enough progressives elected. The neoliberals love shit like this too. They'll drag their feet on reversing it, if they reverse it at all.
I agree with the author about improving infrastructure to address the rise in safetyism. I know I'd feel better letting my kid roam around if there were fewer cars zipping around.
Statements like these always remind me of the quote:
"For the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house. They may allow us to temporarily beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring about genuine change. Racism and homophobia are real conditions of all our lives in this place and time. I urge each one of us here to reach down into that deep place of knowledge inside herself and touch that terror and loathing of any difference that lives here. See whose face it wears. Then the personal as the political can begin to illuminate all our choices." - Audre Lorde
IMO using the system in a way that abuses the system only perpetuates another system of abuse.
Frequently declines booger sugar.
