ACAB, Anti-War, and I hate Democrats, Republicans, and billionaires. (Yes, even your favorite billionaire: the pop star, the philanthropost, the legendary athlete, or the soft-spoken investment guru who cosplays as middle class.) With each passing day I get a little closer to hating everyone.

Also, I refuse to use Donald's last name out of hatred for the man and his brand, FYI.

    In this context it means a politician who makes extravagant promises then doesn't fulfill them. Someone like Barack Obama. It's just absurd given Mamdani's diligence so far as mayor.

  • It's been wild watching these do-nothing centrist bastards criticize him as a 'performative' politician, when just in this short period he's been in power, he's delivering on promises and finding practical solutions for things previously thought impossible, like efficient snow removal (and his plan for that was also employed something like 30,000 people temporarily, insane) and a targeted tax on the billionaires.

    I am very glad to have been wrong about Mamdani. I thought it was more likely he would go mask off and be another Obama.

  • I think my LGTV predates a lot of this, thankfully. I've had it since 2020, but there are still several settings (like 'ad personalization') that I have turned off, and I never connect it to the Internet on purpose.

  • This has always been a thing, and we know it definitively from the Epstein files, as several of the declassified emails show that Epstein met with heads of state to discuss how to maximize their own timing of anticipated market events, like the 2008 crash.

    Prediction markets and Donald's own corruption have just made it a publicly normalized thing.

  • Obviously it did, as he lost the 2020 election, unless we're ignoring cause and effect.

    The problem isn't Donald in this scenario. The problem is that people's lives didn't improve in a material way following the 2020 election (and in fact grew significantly worse), which unfortunately laid the groundwork for a second Donald presidency.

    Iran exacerbated the issue, but the low polling goes back to the Anti-ICE actions in Minnesota.

    People voted for two things in 2024: stronger immigration policy (not to be confused with rebranding the Gestapo, these are two distinctly different things) and affordability. Doesn't help that Donald explicitly promised no more forever wars, but his massive unpopularity goes back to allowing ICE to run rampant in Minneapolis and elsewhere. Watching masked thugs chase down and tackle fifth graders pissed off voters on both teams.

  • I can't speak for anyone outside the US.

    But here, polling lower than Jimmy Carter puts you among the worst, if not the worst, US presidents ever. That he was elected twice is irrelevant.
