Artist, musical performer, and former derby skater from the Midwest.

I'm single, childless, and married to freedom and adventure.

ACAB, Anti-War, and I hate Democrats, Republicans, and billionaires. (Yes, even your favorite billionaire: the pop star, the philanthropost, the legendary athlete, or the soft-spoken investment guru who cosplays as middle class.) With each passing day I get a little closer to hating everyone.

Also, I refuse to use Donald's last name out of hatred for the man and his brand, FYI.

  • Not sure who the bags of douche downvoting this are, but good on you for asking questions and learning new things. Glad to see people in the thread are engaging with you positively in response.

  • I went 30% into international funds after the first recovery from Donald's tariffs in spring 2025, when it became abundantly clear that our former trading partners were all hammering out new trade agreements. (Which take 1.5 - 2 years to take effect, but eventually they will and it'll affect the US adversely.)

Been meaning to rebalance into money markets and bonds with how crazy this year's been. This just makes me want to do that faster.

  • Unfortunately the current state of the digital ecosystem means that there is no YT alternative, so many have no choice.

But people can still use the product in a more conscientious way.

  • America is being hollowed out with no plans to address its effects on the poor and working class, apart from cutting the social safety net. This is happening in a time when it's been criminalized to be homeless in the US and, if you're scooped up, you can be forced legally to perform prison labor.

I don't understand anyone who is actively patriotic in this country.

  • Spotted Dick

  • Thank you for your service, grapes.

  • It's a nice thought, but the people in charge have too much of their personal fortunes wrapped up in AI to offer us any real agency in whether or not we use it.

However, depending on the product, you can actively choose to use it less. I made a video on my YT channel a few months ago about steps you can take in order to (over time) train the YouTube algorithm to offer you less AI slop, but yeah, there's no magic bullet unless you actively seek out and use FOSS applications.

  • If you're just trying to get around ads, use Brave Browser. Its native adblock is the best.

  • My thoughts as well.

Old people like the same shit as young people when it comes to gaming. Ever played D&D?

  • If I had that dude's wealth I would be putting so many artists on my payroll.

  • It won't ever be legal, but I don't think that's going to matter. These data centers are threatening hundreds of communities' basic survival, and there are so many people in this country that are struggling and ready to snap.

  • It's not as if we don't know.

It's been twelve years since the leaks came out about FB using people's news feeds to manipulate them, after all. This is Big Tech's end goal, to take away any agency you might have around use of tech products.

  • It's going to be really, really frustrating watching Democrats campaign in support of AI companies this fall.

But this is a good reminder. Your only power now is local, so take an interest in your neighborhood and fight for it.

  • Yeah, that's how it is here in Kansas City.

It's not feasible to build a data center in the metro, but you can go 20-30 miles out and they're in the process of being built, including one in my hometown. I hate that I'm stuck rooting for an economic crash in order to stop all this, because we know definitively that our elected representatives don't represent us.

  • This is the crux of the issue. Every device equipped with a camera or microphone and a wireless connection is profiling you and sending your data to government databases without a warrant. We know this definitively because of the video footage in the Guthrie kidnapping that the FBI released, footage that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

And there's not a whole lot you can do about it, as you presumably have to step outside at some point, and you have no control over the devices your neighbors decide to use outdoors.

  • This IPO just stinks all around. It is a massive, unashamed pump and dump waiting to happen.

Retail investors get no real voting power. Rules and regulations were changed so that index funds are effectively required to buy into it. The price and valuation are absurd.

The end result will be the US minting a few hundred more billionaires and the world's first trillionaire, and neither Republicans nor Democrats are standing in the way. In fact, they're almost certainly benefiting from it themselves in some way even if they aren't investing in it. After all, someone's palms got greased in order to make all of this possible.

As with all the circular LLM funding, people are just rushing to get theirs before it all crashes down.

  • It used to be, and their satellite internet is actually really good product in fact.

  • What's hard is living in a country that seems to care more about this snowflake bullshit than health care and wages.

  • I'm never going to understand people, of any religion or political affiliation, who honestly think they have some kind of right to be free from offense.

Grow the fuck up. Your neighbors' enjoyment of some dick doesn't affect you in any meaningful way.
