  • It depends so much on the work but I think 25-35 is a healthy work life balance. I for one would rather have a well rested surgeon that's on a 30 hour a week schedule than one that's been pulling back to back to back 12 hour shifts

  • I had something similar for a few years and loved it. Spoiled me since it was my first career out of high school and ended up feeling the 9-5. Schedule is closer to 30-35 a week more spread out over 6 days atm but works better for my current life and doubles as a good workout without being exhausted like if I was doing 8-9s 5 days a week

  • Check out Orion. Still in beta for Linux but still pretty good so far from my experience so far. Flawless for anyone on any ios devices or Mac since its build with webkit like Safari.

  • The old memories of seeing this for 5 minutes as a kid just to be able to load the espn homepage to see football scores and a few images

  • I only use it within Kagi and only have pretty much used their Kiki K2 model which I believe is locally on their servers. At most I’d say twice a week to help sift through some information faster but have no intention for outside of that. Such a waste of resources and compute power for most tasks imo, the internet needs better indexing to find information more efficiently.

  • Conversation > Number of upvotes on a post. Similar to old reddit when upvotes didn't matter as much but the information in said post did which would end up having the top few comments having more upvotes than the most itself.

  • I got a Sony OLED that was on a steep discount near the beginning of covid since it was clear me and my roommate would be home a lot more (Ended up just being in nature more and used it sporadically). Thankfully their interface was minimal at the time so it was just a blank homescreen in offline mode but I've saw tvs now adays some people are buying that will have an overlay even while on any hdmi inputs, that you must connect to the tv. A friend of mine got a cheap Walmart one after a move like 2 years ago and the overlay took up a third of the screen. He just moved too so he had no internet to connect to for a couple days so couldn't even use his PS4 on it.

  • It seems TV aren't even owner by the owners anymore. I don't watch TV nor game anymore but seeing the amount of ads when just turning on tvs at friends houses is wild and now with this it's doing way too much to just be a display. Whoever decides to start making dumb tvs again at mass with all the newer tech like hdr and dolby atmos in it will have a booming business but I guess no residuals after the sale no unlimited growth for investors.

  • Pants are so annoying to try to buy. Every brand/version currently avaliable is a slightly different size even with the measurements so it's hard to try to buy them during sales in bulk online. I'm pretty active for work and have bigger thighs so I go through pants more often than the normal person, but even with that I feel like quality is getting worse causing more of those issues, especially unsuspecting shrinkage. I like the lees extreme motion pants but have noticed if I buy 2 pairs online one will be slightly more narrow than the second pair when it's both the same pant

  • Most degrade over time as they either grow tired of doing it after years of treating it as a job/ buisness with mutliple employees or they move on to other things and its just no longer a priority besides keeping the revenue going. Similar to watching a TV series or a podcast, they are all eventually must end but some go way past their time or upload frequency that worked and just end up a either corporate style mess since it is a job to sell ad space now or just too exhausted from the years to keep up the effort of being good. The second part is moreso for those that switched over to mainly streaming to make clips of them reacting to other people's content.

OG Youtube watcher since back with the Lonely Island being the only thing on there at The start. Ironically they're still pushing 20 years later as a podcast now vs their SNL style skits.

  • Every Cartoon Network show having it's own free games on their website was peak computer room time for me in elementary school. Fun fact: If any of you remember the Amanda Show from the early 2000s, their website AmandaPlease.com was up til 2017. It was a true nostalgia moment to remember to look at once in a blue moon as a chuckle to old website styles.

  • Had a similar thing happen in middle school. Got jumped twice with one of them being inside the hallway of the school and them breaking my glasses. I blacked out and hurt one of them by slamming his head to the wall to stop it so the school and his parents called the cops on me which treated it as assault. Since it was in the hallway there were witnesses that came to speak to them and one of the teachers brining back my broken glasses so that didn’t go far past my lack of care for the authority there until I left at end of the school year*. The year before that one of our teachers encouraged that I fight one of those dudes in class since she considered her room where “beef is squashed” but I had no beef with them (rough city but I wasn’t involved in the street/gang drama the mid 2000s had going on). That school shut down 2 years later and became a new brand.

  • Toliet camera....for $600 camera with a monthly subscription..... might as well just go to a doctor weekly with stool samples if you care this much about your rectal health. I can't see this being popular outside of a very niche group of patients that need it

  • Haha yeah they were in like a Google cloud folder the app would call to to retrieve them. They were available for free the same day it released

  • It’s been around for like 2 years now I believe. There was a bit of hype about it when it first came out since he’s a popular influencer but it didn’t get many to actually sign up for the $50 a year subscription. I do know people did the on time purchases of some individual wallpapers though. As to why, I think he is too into the Apple ecosystem of everything being a subscription that he forgets that most people can’t afford nonsense.

  • Our schools lunch guy fell so hard into this to the point he quit in the days before the date to stand outside the school all day with a sign warning us of whats to come. Great guy with a good heart but wow did those pastors on that radio station have a grip on him.

  • Not much to this for most people unless you did buy any of the wallpapers made by artists on there when it had its inital hype. If you did, best to download and back those up ASAP

  • We really can only do much impact to our immediate area, most significant legacy positive legacy building is creating and propagating movements. If you want to feel like you’re making positive change then do things that help the people around you, the smallest things like shifting to local mom and pop shopping vs big retail for a couple purchases can help keep money local and supports them raising their families there in your town. Same as just picking up litter you might see as you walk through a park, you never know who’s watching and who it might influence to do the same or to stop littering over time. Not everything has to be macro but all the small decisions do add up to a pretty large change around you that will be noticed.

  • So many people are stressed and overwhelmed with the combination of things going on. Life, the economy, slop drama dressed as entertainment by they parasocially watch, etc. that they’re too mentally exhausted to interact much anymore outside of work and the immediate people in their household. I’m dealing with the same OP, I’m very active, love going to many events, and am always up to chill over food. Even if I offer to pay for tickets to go to sports games, find some good comedy tickets, or it’s a beautiful day to be outside and do nothing but chill in a park with some food, it’s still more convenient for almost all those friends who were previously into those common things to just watch them while on the couch eating DoorDash which I’m open to join them in doing. While the real experience of that same stadium is just miles away and a couple of dollars (sports city but half the teams currently aren’t winners). For my city at least, it’s mostly the 50+ that are out doing things. Anyone younger is typically rushing through errands or commuting between jobs and home.
