I like city building games and puzzles. I like other things as well, but that's not important right now.

  • My mum would try and set me up with random girls when I was younger, pressure me to talk to people she wanted me to be in a relationship with, once apparently lied to my classmate's family that we were Jewish or something (i.e I don't know if this was an ethnicity thing or a religion thing and I don't want to know.)

    I wouldn't say the other party's parents were complicit in this or even realised it was her intention. Hence why I'm not in an arranged marriage right now.

    It's interesting seeing several lonely people online talk about how arranged marriage is a superior system. I don't feel that way right now, but we'll wait and see what I say when I'm older.

  • Australia's isolation is bad. Since the ecosystem there is pretty murderous and the natives seem to have not developed very sophisticated agriculture, they would have benefited from constant contact with other civilisations on-par with them early on.

    Switzerland and Britain, on the other hand, are examples of places that benefited from geographic isolation because their climate is good. Even then, their "isolation" is better described as "natural barriers" because they actually have immense proximity to other cultures. I would argue that places like Iceland are akin to Australia - an unfavourable habitat and equally isolated, geographically-speaking.

    Australia's isolation would certainly be of benefit here, theoretically, but i don't think it has faced a situation where that was important - i.e no nearby conquering states. What protected it from conquest in world wars was primarily its size - Germany would absolutely not spare troops to settled a larger nation in another continent when it was surrounded by enemies.

    I think travel is advanced enough now that we cannot consider australia isolated anymore, either. If China wanted to attack, they could do so. They are probably the only country that could do so, though.

    How long would it take for their air force or navy to reach them?

    Air force apparently 2-3 hours, Navy apparently 20-45 days.

    Why are australians so concerned with Iran, though? From what i've gathered they haven't been involved

    • Wildflowers, because it attracks so many bugs, which feed birds.

    • vegetable garden or herb garden

    In terms of benefit to you and the environment:

    • wildflowers, because they look pretty :)

    The options are limitless. Basically just don't do a lawn in your front garden and try to have a few other plants on your back lawn if you need to keep it as a children's play area or similar.

    Where i live in the UK, victorian homes are like 55% of housing stock and that means most people have front gardens designed for an enclosed space lined by hedge. This allows you to have a completely hidden spot to sit and get fresh air while you drink coffee. Similar to a porch.

    Yep things like Venmo and Revolut, if I understand correctly. i.e the newest payment apps which have recently pivoted into becoming independent banks, now that they've gathered enough venture capital to do so.

  • My professional advice is that i expect someone who is involved in environmental prepper groups would be the most protected from climate catastrophe/have the best access to protection when shit hits the fan.

    Controversial opinion: I also don't think shit will hit the fan too bad except for certain countries. But the USA, or parts of it, might be one of those countries. And a lot of nations are at risk.

    So maybe neither of these things are whitepilling depending on what your illness is and where you live. But i tried

    Anything between lines of longitude 0° - 180° (0° is britain GMT, 180° is opposite side of earth) is EAST.

    Anything between 180° to 0 (you can think of as 360°) is WEST.

    Thus you have a western hemisphere, which i guess is just tthe americas and british Isles, and an eastern hemisphere, which i guess is most of afroeurasia and australia. This is just about the only way it could've worked, but as for where 0 and 180 went, it's just arbitrary.

    I would've defined the Levant as the boundary between east and west hemisphere, instead.

    Eastern Antarctica's ice sheet is older and more well developed than western antarctica. It will probably take longer to melt or collapse than the western half.
