  • I have none because my parents were lazy, bad at organising, constsnty fatigued and didn't have dedicated shelf space to put it in. Wish I had more. We do have photobooks, they basically stopped taking photos from when I was 6/7 onwards though.

    I haven't taken phptos of myself in a while because my phones were usually crap and had storage issues. Maybe i'll do it tomorrow bht with my Digital camera

    I have an ambivalent relationship with parents and never really intentionally asked them to like… pose for a photo… don’t think I had any photos of family lol…

    I think i asked them to take more photos once or twice, didn't amount to anything

  • The first thing everyone that I’ve recommended Lemmy to sees is massive amounts of porn when they make their accounts. Telling them they need to block instances is a major hurdle as they don’t even know what an instance is when they migrate over.

    Most end up not bothering and going right back to Reddit.

    That really sucks! Next time maybe point them towards piefed, where it actually prompts you to filter out NSFW stuff in account creation. I haven't seen any porn on my piefed account.

  • I think that people can migrate their accounts to a new instance which effectively unblocks them to you, because you only blocked them in their original instance.

    I have definitely seen what you describe, but only with users rather than instances or communities, which gives my theory some rope.

  • My mum would try and set me up with random girls when I was younger, pressure me to talk to people she wanted me to be in a relationship with, once apparently lied to my classmate's family that we were Jewish or something (i.e I don't know if this was an ethnicity thing or a religion thing and I don't want to know.)

    I wouldn't say the other party's parents were complicit in this or even realised it was her intention. Hence why I'm not in an arranged marriage right now.

    It's interesting seeing several lonely people online talk about how arranged marriage is a superior system. I don't feel that way right now, but we'll wait and see what I say when I'm older.
